In the immediate hours following the attack the full focus of the authorities in Paris was on addressing the attack, taking care of the casualties and making sure no more attacks could happen. Keeping that in mind, the last thing the security situation needed was a high profile government official, so the decision was made to stay out of public view and avoid causing even bigger issues. As night turned to day things changed, and now the need to inform and calm the people of France as well as providing moral support for the people working on the frontlines increased. With that in mind the Peugeot 607 Paladine made its way to the site of what until just hours ago had been a site of joy and happiness. The Bataclan.

As the car, escorted by four black Peugeot 5008s with dark tinted windows, came to a stop the Azure Guard would first step out of the escorting cars before one of the guards stepped out of the passenger side of the Paladine and opened the door. Jeanne, close friend, head of the security detail and personal guard of Thérèse would be the first to step out immediately followed by the Empress of the French. At that point there were 20 people keeping an eye on her security, and those were only the people in view with many more from the Azure Guard, Gendarmerie, Police and even the Army and Air Force involved in this security mission. An hour before her arrival the Imperial Secretariat had sent notifications to all media organizations with offices or reporters inside France that the Empress would visit the site of the Bataclan attack and address the press there. It was made clear that both during the pictures and during the address the press would not get to ask questions.

Personally Thérèse had rather not have the press involved before she would address them, but she too could respect the value to the French people of seeing their Empress be on site. As she talked to survivors, family members, security officials and others she could feel how even the simple kindness of talking to them seemed to ease the pain somewhat. Hearing some of the stories she was often nearly brought to tears herself. Barely maintaining her composure she stepped up to a prepared stage, once there it was as if a switch was turned in her head and the sadness and anger she had displaced mere moments before was replaced with determination.

"My people, once again France is under attack.

Cowards, through and through, have taken the kindness and hospitality of our nation and used it to wage war against us. Thousands of fathers, mother, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters. Friends, grandparents. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists. Hiding in the shadows they killed all they could. It will take days, if not weeks or months until we can have a final casualty count but we already know that at least 30,000 were killed tonight, hospitals report thousands of wounded and many of them will not survive their injuries. While our security services are still investigating to determine the true perpetrators, what we do know is that they are Islamic terrorists. We know many come from Algeria and other countries in the Arab world, and we know they targeted representations of the French state and French Jewry in particular.

To all those responsible for these attacks, not just the people who fired their guns or set off their explosives, but also the people who supplied them with their weapons and explosives, the people who supplied them with financing, the people who provided shelter, the people who still hide them, the people who supported them from their abroad, and the governments or other institutions that did all of the above know this. The Empire of France will never again rest. We will hunt you down, we will do our best to bring you to a court, but if it comes to it know we will also enact justice if we can't get you before a court. May the almighty Lord have mercy on your souls, for Lady Marianne will crush you.

To my people, I must ask you for your forgiveness. The Civil War, petty disputes on the European continent, unimportant topics, all of these have kept our focus away from what truly matters. The protection and safety of the French people. These distractions have allowed us to lose sight of the true threats out there. Today, I promise you this. Never again will the Empire of France allow itself to be exposed like this. Going forward the security and peace of the French people and state is the highest concern. We will hunt those down that would hurt you and we will work with those that stand with us against the evils of terrorism.

To the nations of Europe, once again our continent has felt the pain of terrorism. I know that I have had disagreements with some of you and many of you have had disagreements with each other, but today I call upon a joint resolve to bridge these divides and come together to make Europe safe and peaceful again.

In the upcoming days we will take care of our wounded and say goodbye to those we lost, after that we will begin rebuilding. We will rebuild that which was destroyed, we will build a network of alliances to fight global terrorism, we will punish those responsible, we will work with likeminded powers in Europe and beyond, and we will keep you safe.

Thank you."

Upon concluding her speech the Empress would step down again. Despite the earlier notification the press still erupted into questions at which point the Empress' Press Secretary would walk up to inform the reporters that a press conference open to the public would be held three hours from now at Versailles where spokespeople for the Ministry of the Armed Forces and Ministry of the Interior would also be present.
