Mr Secretary,

In light of our strong and beneficial relationship, I must seek your assistance on a matter important to Israel. Currently, the United States recognises Tel Aviv as our capital. It is the view of the Israeli Government that our capital is, quite rightly, Jerusalem. Our relationship should not be hindered because of an issue which should be the prerogative of our Government.

I am therefore asking you to reconsider your position and, taking into account our special relationship, recognise Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.
