Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Dear Kevin Rudd,
I write to you today as one of Israel's closest friends, the Prime Minister sends her well wishes and hopes that our governments can continue to cooperate in many areas. I have sat down with the Prime Minister in a meeting a few days ago and decided that it is best to recall Ambassador Amir Maimon back to the State of Israel in the coming days. Ambassador Maimon has served in his role as our Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia with great dedication following an extensive career in the Israel Defense Force and the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs before undertaking his appointment.
We have decided to appoint Nitzan Horowitz as the new Israeli Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia. We believe that he brings a vast amount of ideas to continue the Israeli and Australian relationship. Nitzan comes from a law background after studying for a law degree and was previously was the chief United States correspondent and commentator for the Israeli News Company. We are currently making the necessary arrangements for Nitzan and his life partner to relocate to Canberra to begin his deployment.
Kind regards,
Isaac Herzog
Minister of Foreign Affairs
