H.E. Minister of Defence Fancio,

I hope this email finds you well. The Ministry of National Defense has informed us that the following (2) terms are additional requirements for purchasing the Dokdo-Class Amphibious Assault Ship. The following terms will be added to the overall terms already agreed upon by your government on the KDIA website. This said, should you be willing to accept the following terms, please note your final price comes out to $993,600,000 for each ship. Please feel free to reply back with any information, requests, or amendments and we can discuss them. Considering your request, would you like for the production of these three ships to be done privately as well, if so, would your government be willing to pay the additional charge?

Additional terms:
  1. The Argentine Republic agrees not to share or provide technical data and specifications of the vessels it has purchased from the Republic of Korea to any non-signatory party or entity,
  2. In non-combat situations, the Argentine Republic, where secrecy can not be guaranteed, and combat is not required, will not use the Dokdo Amphibious Assault Ship at optimal capacity allowing foreign entities knowledge on the full capabilities of the technology on these vessel

Director Soojeon,
Thank you for your message and for taking personal interest in our proposed acquisition of 3 Dokdo-Class Amphibious Assault Ships. We have reviewed your additional clauses and our legal team found no objections on them. Considering this, and already in agreement with the initial conditions, we have can confirm our interest in acquiring the equipment.

Our only concern is the cost per ship your mentioning in your last message. Your product catalogue lists a cost-per-unit of $331,200,000.00, but now your tagging them at three times that value. Is that correct?

Sincerely yours,

Juan Manuel Fangio
Minister of Defence
Republic of Argentina

Thank you for the update on the additional terms. Please let me apologize for a transcription error. You are correct, each ship is valued at 331,200,000.00 at export-configuration. In total this would equal 993,600,000, what was meant was "the final price comes out to $993,600,000 for each [all] ship" instead of what you received in the previous email. Please accept my apologies for this error.

You total price will be $993,600,000, with each ship purchased at $331,200,000.00. If this is acceptable, once our ministry confirms the payment transfer, we will make plans for KDIA to fulfill the agreement and build three Dokdo-class amphibious assault ships. As previously stated, would you like for the production of these three ships to be done privately as well?

Director Soojeon,
Thank you kindly for the clarification. In this case, we will proceed with the purchase by wiring the indicated amount. We see no need for the production to be of private or secret nature.

Director Soojeon,
Given the opportunity, we would like to ask if it is possible to know what vehicles the Korean Navy recommends to be operated from the Dokdo-Class Amphibious Assault Ships. Specially, we would like to know the model and type of LCAC that could be employed. We were looking at the Zubr or Tsaplysa-Class LCACs.

Sincerely yours,

Juan Manuel Fangio
Minister of Defence
Republic of Argentina

H.E. Minister of Defence Fancio,

Please view the attached forwarded response from the ROK Navy Liaison at DAPA and KDIA, Liet. Park Jaeseon. I hope the answer was satisfactory.

To Whom it may concern,
The Republic of Korea currently operates the Zubr-class LCAC for the Dokdo-Amphibious Assault Ship. Additionally, the Dokdo-Amphibious Assault Ship acts as a de-facto helicopter carrier and is used for airborne insertions via helicopter of the ROK military. Based on exercises, the Zubr-class & Tsaplysa-Class LCAC will work with the Dokdo, as well American-made LCAC. Future plans are under way to purchase 3 Tsaplysa-Class LCAC from the Russian Federation for the ROKN Dokdo fleet, alternatively, the US Marine Corps AALC LCAC.
