OPERATION SAFEGUARD.
HUMANITARIAN AID & SECURITY

[STAGING POINT]: Changi Naval Base
[DESTINATION]: Port of Vancouver
[ROUTE]: OJ -> PJ -> PK -> PL -> OL -> OM -> ON -> RN -> AN -> BN -> CN

[ETA]: 11 Days [9/20/18]

Combined elements of TF10 and 20 form Joint Task Force 65 [JTF65] as part of the initial planning stages of Operation Safeguard.

JTF65 is assigned the primary objective of delivering three companies of the King's brigade, 4th. Guards BCT, to the Port of Vancouver safely. Singaporean units are tasked with providing security, supplies and medical aid to all citizens within the borders of British Columbia. They are also to assist in the vetting of refugees fleeing into the province (due to communist and islamist concerns), all the while ensuring refugees and citizens human rights are not being violated. Tertiary objective for security forces is to locate and provide safety to foreign nationals in B.C. and arrange their extraction back to their home countries if possible.

Once all units, vehicles and supplies have been off-loaded, both LPD ships will refuel and remain at port in Vancouver for the duration of the mission. RSS Aggression and Independence are tasked with (after refueling, that is) patrolling Canadian coastal waters until given notice of a change in mission.

Joint Task Force 65 [JTF65]
OPERATION SAFEGUARD.
HUMANITARIAN AID & SECURITY

[STAGING POINT]: Changi Naval Base
[DESTINATION]: Port of Vancouver
[ROUTE]: OJ -> PJ -> PK -> PL -> OL -> OM -> ON -> RN -> AN -> BN -> CN
[START DATE]: 9/9/18
[ARRIVAL DATE]: 9/20/18
[LOCATION]: 60 Kilometers off the coast of Vancouver; International Waters.

Since their initial deployment from Changi Naval Base, JTF65 remained in high spirits during the nearly two week long voyage across the Pacific. The fleet made sure to stay within international waters on their way across the Pacific, and the men assigned to the ships were allotted generous amounts of free time in anticipation of their aid mission's success.

The mood would shift from relaxed to alert once JTF65 approached the 50 kilometer mark off the coast of Canada. Active radar scans would pick up the large fleet sitting off the coast of Vancouver, and Singaporean command was near certain it meant the presence of the American navy. While their mission was humanitarian in nature, King Wei dispatched a pair of his own personal destroyers to escort the LPD's safely to Vancouver's port. Even with the presence of multiple armed Singaporean vessels, neither the fleet's command nor the government wanted an armed confrontation during such a widely-publicized and open humanitarian mission.

With that in mind, the fleet received modified orders directly from the King himself. It maintained its scheduled course, only coming to stop once they were 60km from the shore and a minimum 30km berth was maintained between their fleet and the Americans. With tension rising among JTF65, the commander of the fleet would attempt to open up communication before proceeding any closer to the shores of Vancouver.

With the E-2 Hawkeyes in the air, they would obviously be providing a longer OTH radar scan which would pick up on the Singaporean vessels before any of the American fleet would be detected. The information would be relayed to the American vessels who would, for obvious reason, become very tense at the situation, however their training would kick in. Although Condition YOKE was already set in, checks would be made to make sure all hatches and doors below sea level were sealed. Captain Jeffery Ruth, on board the USS Nimitz, would pick up the radio receiver and begin speaking into it. "Fleet, thirty miles east of our position, this is US Navy carrier Six-Eight hailing you on channel one-six. Over.". The Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornets already patrolling the skies above the fleet would be running low on fuel now, after using the reserves in their drop tanks. They would come into land on the USS Nimitz, they would be replaced by five Lockheed Martin F-35Cs, each armed with: 1× General Dynamics 25 mm (0.984 in) GAU-22/A 4-barrel rotary cannon (180 rounds), 6x AGM-158C LRASM and 2x AIM-120 AMRAAM. The E-2 Hawkeyes would also come into land, being replaced by a second flight of two.

"Fleet, thirty miles east of our position, this is US Navy carrier Six-Eight hailing you on channel one-six. Over."

Currently located on the bridge of the lead destroyer, RSS Aggression, Admiral Zhang decided to keep the fleet on medium alert for the time being. Communication had been established, and with it a slight ease of the tension from moments earlier.

"USN Carrier Six-Eight, this is Admiral Zhang, Commanding officer of Joint Task Force 65. We are en-route to Vancouver as part of Operation Safeguard, our Kingdom's publicly-announced humanitarian mission to the city. Over."

Upon hearing the response from the Singaporean vessels, the Captain would look around the bridge for a few moments, before speaking into the mouth piece once again. "This is Captain Jeffery Ruth, Commanding Officer, USS Nimitz. Yes, we were made aware of your operation and in no way mean to stop you. However I've been given orders to inform you that any violent action taken by your fleet or by the troops on the ground - and by that I mean, if you are the ones who cause the violence with no reason. We are to respond in kind"

The response from the USS Nimitz was well-received on board the bridge of the Aggression. "We appreciate the warning, Captain Ruth, and we will resume course to the Port of Vancouver within the hour. Over and out."

Orders would be passed down during that hour before the engines once came came to life. Last minute equipment checks were completed and platoons were formed into their respective companies in preparation for their arrival at the port. The hangar bay grew active as the MH-60M Blackhawks were outfitted and transferred onto their respective flight decks.

Once the hour had passed, the Americans received word of JTF65's immediate departure for Vancouver.

OPERATION SAFEGUARD.

[STAGING POINT]: Changi Naval Base
[DESTINATION]: Port of Vancouver
[ROUTE]: OJ -> PJ -> PK -> PL -> OL -> OM -> ON -> RN -> AN -> BN -> CN
[START DATE]: 9/9/18
[ARRIVAL DATE]: 9/20/18
[LOCATION]: British Columbia;Western Canadian coastal waters

Operation Safeguard's A.O. at it's peak would consist of the entirety of British Columbia, including Vancouver and the Charlotte Islands.

Operation Safeguard would be in full swing within the first two days after the mission made its landing in Vancouver. After securing Vancouver with combined elements of 1CO and 2CO of the the king's 4th brigade, 3CO's assignment would find them split in half as the TF's entire fleet of RG-31 Nyala's were allocated for their use of establishing a presence outside of the major city. With Vancouver serving as the mission's base of operations, patrols of two to three RG-31s were established going up the full length of Highways 97 and 99, with lesser priority given to the various other highways cutting across the province.

Once the route was cleared and routine patrols were reported in motion, the four MAN HX60 logistical trucks were tasked with transporting food, medical supplies, and various items such as blankets and toiletries to help assist with any displaced residents further out from in the province.

1CO and 2CO established through presence through residential and commercial areas more heavily after the violence in the east would report the leader of the Liberal faction assassinated by Islamist terrorists. Foot patrols would be established with the intention of providing both hands-on security, as well as an effort to endear the civilian populace to the presence of Singaporean soldiers. The usage of flyers handed out to civilians, as well as allowing security forces to directly assist in the aid of civilians and refugees alike was encouraged by military command. In regards to issues of security, minimal force would be used to detain active threats, with potential threats being reported to their nationalist counterparts. Human-rights observers were assigned to monitor any detaining of potential threats, to ensure the Nationalists remain clean from any human-rights violations.

The pair of MH-60M Blackhawks would be used to transport various elements from 1CO to the outlying Vancouver and Charlotte Islands. With the civil war brewing on the mainland taking the country's focus, Singaporean forces would engage in both foot patrols and the transport of various supplies to the more populated sections of the islands.

Meanwhile both the RSS Aggression and RSS Independence were engaged in patrols up and down the coast of British Columbia, occasionally monitoring the American fleet whenever their paths crossed. Admiral Zhang would make sure to keep communications open with the American fleet, all things considered. The pair of LPD's were kept in port at Vancouver while the operation went underway. They would serve as the basis for the mission's headquarters, along with a portion of the Port of Vancouver being converted for the Singaporean's usage.

Reports coming into the Ministry of Defense were all but confirming the success of Operation Safeguard as a whole. With zero casualties reported and a flawless record of aid and respect for the rights of the civilian inhabitants of B.C., MINDEF would confirm to King Wei that Singapore was more than capable of projecting power across the Pacific, according to the data coming in from Singapore's first 'test-run' of power projection. King Wei would send down the orders for the mission to last for approximately another week -- give or take -- depending on the conclusion of Canadian elections.

[LOCATION]: British Columbia;Western Canadian coastal waters

JTF65 escorted by elements of Vancouver's Coast Guard as they exit Canadian coastal waters and journey back to Singapore.

Elections had ended, and with it a confirmation of Nationalist victory over the rest of the parties involved. With communication established between the two governments, and the Singaporeans quite sure stability had returned, all elements of JTF65 were routed back to Vancouver where they began revving down the Operation for a return back home. Mission command would leave with Vancouver's authorities any and all documentation they had gathered over the course of their time in the country, including the initial mission prior to the arrival of the fleet. Copies were made for them, of course, as the originals were to be brought back to Singapore for safe keeping.

Once the entire task force was reported ready to leave, JTF65 would exit the Port of Vancouver with an escort from a handful of Coast guard vessels, a sign of solidarity between the people of Vancouver and the brave Singaporeans who answered the call to support the city in its time of need.

A final farewell would be sent to their American counterparts as well, although Admiral Zhang had a feeling the Americans were already aware of Singaporean intentions before it was announced. Soon JTF65 would exit Canada's coastal waters and enter the high seas on another eleven-day long voyage back home.

Operation Safeguard was officially over.
