During a recent press conference by the Department of Defense, Secretary Brendan Wei noted that the Royal Guard will serve several purposes other than being the elite protectors of King Wei. When asked about the differences between the Guard and the regular army, we were met with this response.

"As an elite formation, the Royal Guard's training regime is nearly triple that of our standard infantryman in the army. There will be multiple elements that will make up the specialized units within the guard. Elements will be specialized in everything from rapid deployment, urban combat, as well as air and heliborne operations. Detachments specialized in counter-insurgency and humanitarian aid will also form a portion of the guard's fighting force as well. Guardsman will form the vanguard of our expeditionary forces when called upon, all the while maintaining the ability to specialize where our infantry can not."

"But the bulk of the Royal Guard will be trained in the type of amphibious warfare associated with the Marines of other nations. As an island nation, it is imperative that we maintain the ability to protect our interests against threats to our kingdom's security. Our hope is for the Royal Guard to serve as an example to the rest of our Armed forces, as the way forward for our nation will begin and end with our ability to defend our corner of Asia."

When asked if this announced military expansion has anything to do with the recent aggression of the neighboring communists to the north, Secretary Wei stated, " The communist issue to the north is one that has no bearing on our military expansion. To put it bluntly, any offensive operations aimed in our direction will be responded to in kind, but we do not seek conflict with potential aggressors. What can be confirmed is our King's desire to lead the way in protecting the interests of Singapore, and also our neighbors in the region."

Lion Defense Industries unveils prototype of next-generation service rifle.

Lion Defense Industries, our country's very own defense conglomerate, has just released surprising news about our future soldier's weapon of choice. While rumors of the SAR-21 being phased out had long graced the internet, actual details were kept closely secret until LDI held a private exhibition that was rumored to include VIPs from across the world. Several prototypes were available to be seen on hand, but there were no guaranteed dates as to when the rifle would be officially released.

The Royal Government announces the first of many reforms.

Following King Wei's return back to Singapore, the Royal Government was once more running at full swing under the direction of our King, the Wei family patriarch.

Several days have passed since his quiet return, and today we've received word of further reforms that will affect not just the military, but all citizens of our burgeoning Kingdom.

Under the Enlistment Act of 1970, tens of thousands of our brothers and sisters have been called for national service in defense of our predecessor, the Republic of Singapore. The policy of conscription was once deemed a necessary evil to protect our country against the evils within the world, and some have even argued that the policy is still needed with the current state of Asia.

Unfortunately for those naysayers, the Kingdom has officially abolished the policy of national service that was briefly inherited by its predecessor.

Our sources close to the Royal government have stated that further reforms were likely to be announced throughout the week.

National Guard announced!

The Department of Defense have just confirmed that the Royal Armed Forces would no longer consist of four separate branches, and would instead be consolidated down into three.

The army and the air force are to be consolidated into a new branch altogether, the Singaporean National Guard. A DoD spokesperson confirmed that the National Guard's role would primarily focus on defending Singapore from threats on land, sea and air.

It shows a stark contrast to the King's Royal Guard, who's focus seems to be primarily on increasing our Kingdom's ability to strike far and wide across the globe.

The National Guard will be the third all-volunteer branch, alongside the Royal Guard and the Navy. Of the estimated 50,000 reservists that were inherited into the Kingdom's army, approximately 12,000 are planned to be kept on as full-time National Guardsmen.
