Southwestern Border, Kuwait
The four aircraft, after their successful bombing run, would return and switch places with four other aircraft with a similar loadout. They would rotate with one another, as one strike group expends its ammunition, another would arrive fully loaded. This was done in order to maximize delay for the defenders and to maximize Iraqi casualties. Seeing that the Iraqis doesn't have a formidable defense against the fast movers, bar their small arms, the aircraft would use their weapons to their full potential, bombs, and missiles to target hard and grouped targets, while using their Vulcan cannon to shred through the roofs of soft-skinned vehicles, piercing the thin helmets of infantrymen.
The missiles would land rather sporadically, indeed destroying civilian buildings, and injuring many. The Kuwaiti National Guard was harshly affected by this, with many either dead or wounded due to their late mobilization. The main brunt of the Kuwaiti Military wouldn't be greatly damaged by this attack, although it did send some positions scrambling to rebuild as nearby shrapnel and debris fly towards their positions.
The Airport would suffer three direct hits, while not a deathblow to the Coalition's aerial superiority, it did temporarily delay and ground some aircraft. Ground crews were quick to find solutions to the massive potholes on the runway, but this would take time. Airstrikes from aircraft operating within the Kuwait International Airport would be temporarily halted for roughly 5 hours. 8 Apache helicopters fitted with their M230 chaingun, 2 Hydra rocket pods, and 2 Hellfire missiles each, would start-up their engines and head for the southeastern flank. They would fly low and attack far, using their autocannons and munitions to target the incoming Iraqis. Likewise, 2 with the same loadout would proceed to support the Southwestern flank.
Kuwait City, Kuwait
Meanwhile, the forces at the ground would prepare themselves for the first wave. They would position hardpoints containing Machinegun nests, ATGM launchers, and a single tank, along the main defensive line, with infantry and IFVs as support. They would maintain 3 Tank companies for each area, the Southwestern flank, the Central Flank covering the airfield, and the Southeastern Flank. These companies would be the mobile harassers of the Kuwaiti Military, looking to flank when an opportunity arises. They would remain at long range to pick off any hart targets such as tanks or IFVs.
As the Iraqis would start nearing the city's borders, they would be greeted not with open arms, but with a barrage of lead. Machineguns would lay down suppressive fire as nearby artillery would zero in on pinned targets. ATGM launchers would target incoming tanks, while the IFVs mow down squads of infantry. Due to ample time, every vehicle stationed in the main defensive line would be hunkered down, along with the defensive positions and entrenchments of nearby infantry.
Artillery would do the job of saturating the general area around the city, providing relentless barrages of both shells and missiles to the incoming attackers. Everyone not under cover of some kind would be met with the horrible fate of being ripped to shreds by the fragments of shells and rockets. It would be a bloodbath to the average person, but to these dogs of war, its only a Tuesday.
They would continue on resisting their assailants, adamant on not letting a single Iraqi boot within the city borders.
As an act of defiance, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister would read the Iraqi letter on live television, before promptly revealing a small lighter. The small crowd outside the palace would cheer on. Despite the apparent danger of Iraqi missiles hitting at any moment, there would still be a sizable amount of people gathering to offer their support in defending Kuwaiti sovereignty, with the sounds of battle nearby.
"This is Kuwait's reply. How can they expect us to surrender while killing our people? While destroying livelihoods and homes?! We did not falter as our allies helped us in 1991. We shall not falter now. We shall show our ancestors that the Kuwaiti Spirit, a spirit shared with each and every single citizen, would openly resist the claws of Imperial Aggression. We will show no mercy. We will live on!"
Emergency services would quickly rush to their feet to tend to the victims of Iraq's relentless missile strikes on the general population. The hospitals filled with burn victims and people with missing limbs. Blood would start flooding the marble floor as doctors, surgeons, and nurses quickly tend to the wounded. While not directly fighting the Iraqis in bloody combat, they would still be commemorated as heroes of the war.
Abdali, Iraqi-Occupied Territory, Kuwait
The lone tanker would silently move through the ruins of Abdali, scavenging what he can. He would note the number of personnel gathering within the town, jotting it down on a journal he found by one of his dead comrades. He would then attempt to find a working radio, in order to establish communications with High Command. While hiding within the shadows, he would also gather 2 more people, presumed dead by his own country. The three of them would attempt to disrupt Iraqi operations as much as they can, only striking when the situation is in their favor.
