Subject: Initiation of Bilateral Relations

Dear Miss Wong,

On behalf of the Wald-government, I would like to congratulate your government's electoral victory. We are confident in your administration to represent the Australian people on the international stage. The Netherlands is interested in initiating bilateral relations as we see Australia as an important strategic partner in the Asian region as we also share many current and historical allies.

We hope to discuss a range of issues from trade and economic cooperation to defence and security. We believe that we can develop a positive relationships which can last for years to come.

Yours Sincerely,
Raphael Crisp

The Foreign Minister would pen the letter while also on the phone to the U.K. Secretary.

"Dear Mr. Crisp,

It's a pleasure to hear from you. Yes, we agree, it's time we initial further Australia-Netherlands relations. Afterall, the Netherlands was the first country to 'explore' Australia if you will. Well rather part of it's coastline. But the Dutch were the first ones to find out that there is in fact a 'great southern land' all the way back in the 1600s with the great explorers of Willem Janszoon, Dirk Hartog, Frederick de Houtman, Abel Tasman and Willem de Vlamingh. All mainly along the Western and Northern coastlines except Abel Tasman who would be the first to discover the island of Tasmania which is now appropriately named after him. Originally he named it Van Dieman's Land after Anthony Van Dieman, Governor-General to the East Indies. Dutch history is rooted deep in Australia, especially in Western Australia where many Dutch shipwrecks scatter the coastline. If possible, we would like to arrange a Royal Visit to Australia so the King can personally visit these shipwrecks and observe the rich Dutch history in Western Australia.

Sincerely,
Penny Wong,
Minister for Foreign Affairs."

Dear Miss Wong,

We share a rich history, one we wish to honour as we work together to a brighter future. As for a royal visit, we are esteemed by this invitation, while the King is currently hosting the Mexican President, we would be honoured to visit later this year. Possibly in a combined Asia-Oceania tour to solidify our relations with the many new nations which have risen to the international stage.

In the meantime we would like to continue improving our relationship, possibly with the signing of a Fair-Trade Agreement.

Yours Sincerely,
Raphael Crisp

"Dear Mr. Crisp,

We will be delighted to host a Royal Visit from the King later in the year. Arrangements can be made through our embassies. As for a "Fair-Trade" Agreement, we will need to have high-level talks first before we sign anything. You can have this either with me, the Minister for Trade or our Ambassador to the Netherlands.

Sincerely,
Penny Wong,
Minister for Foreign Affairs."

Dear Miss Wong,

I'll make sure to inform the Royal Chief of Staff to begin drawing up plans. In regards to a Fair-Trade Agreement, I only meant to bring up the subject. Of course further discussion can be held in person by our Ambassador in Canberra. Of course if this discussion should be held with the Minister for Trade, then I'll have my Ambassador contact him in order to make an appointment.

"Dear Mr. Crisp,

I'll let Jason Clare, the Minister for Trade, know that the Ambassador wishes to speak to him regarding the 'Fair-Trade' Agreement. His office should be free to go straight there if they let the reception know that they're the Ambassador for the Netherlands here to speak on that matter.

Sincerely,
Penny Wong,
Minister for Foreign Affairs."

Dear Miss Wong,

I will ensure that the Dutch Ambassador to Australia is informed of this.

I have also been informed by the Ministry of Defence to express our interest in the Jindalee Operational Radar Network, for use in maritime tracking. We hope to be able to come to an agreement on the topic.

Yours Sincerely,

"Dear Mr. Crisp,

In regards to JORN. You will have to contact the Minister for Defence, Gai Brodtmann, about that. I have no idea about anything regarding that.

Sincerely,
Penny Wong,
Minister for Foreign Affairs."
