Dear Sir/Madam,

I am contacting you on behalf of the Dutch government in order to ask for an explanation in regards to the decision for the closure of the Irish embassy in the Netherlands and the request that the Netherlands retracts its own diplomatic mission. Since we have had only minor diplomatic contact between our nations your decision comes as a surprise.

We hope that you can offer us a reason and that you'd be willing to review your decision.

The Irish Government has instructed me to enforce a diplomatic closure of embassies and withdrawal of officials from countries with whom we have regular contact or that have ties to the GA with exceptions of course.

Mind you, that we have no ill will towards The Netherlands and that this action is being carried out in a manner of reluctance. If you wish to apply for exemptions please notify me within 42 hpurs.

Please correct me if I am mistaken, however are you saying that the Netherlands is being punished for maintaining diplomatic relations with Èire and being a member of an international organisation?

Furthermore the Netherlands hereby applies for an exemption for the requested closure of our diplomatic missions.
