From the: Nigerian Minister of State, Viola Adaku Onwuliri
To the: To the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Patrick Duffy

Greetings, we were most happy to see an active and stable government in Ireland, and we are eager to begin relations with your nation. We are very happy because we believe both our nations have much in common. We both speak English, yet have strong cultural ties to other languages. We are both emerging nations in the world stage. We hope you are open to a strong relationship between our peoples. We would suggest the opening of trade routes as well as the signing of cultural exchange and education agreements to ease the ability to obtain work, travel, education, and special visas between our two countries. These beginning steps would be a great leap forward for African relations with Europe.

Subject: Bilateral Relations

My government would be more than happy to establish diplomatic bilateral relations with Nigeria on the basis that such an endevor will secure a mutually beneficial exchange of not only economic output but also that which cultural by nature. however, I must warn you that my government has just implemented a immigration bill restricting the flow of migrants from third world countries in the form of a quota system. I will discuss with my prime minister on the manner so as to lift most of those restrictions so as not to harm our relations with your nation before they even commence.

Sincerely,
Patrick Duffy,
Foreign Minister of Ireland

The Irish government would receive the message and would foward
it to the foreign office for examination and response.

From - Patrick Duffy, Foreign Minister of Ireland
To - Viola Adaku Onwuliri, Nigerian Head of State

My government would like to know when it would be suitable to establish an embassy in Lagos and what products would you like to export to Ireland in return for Irish imports into Nigeria? On another note your nation's quota is 2,500 in regards to how many of your citizens may enter Ireland.

Sincerely, Patrick Duffy

We are most interested in trading for Irish Pharmaceuticals, although we would also be interested in Cosmetics and Dairy products as well. We offer in exchange

1. Rubbers
2. Plastics
3. Crude Oil
4. Natural Gas
5. Tobacco

Further, the Nigerian Trade Federation can handle all shipping both too and from Ireland all we need is simply a port to arrive in. We believe that these trade relations will provide both of our populations with valuable and much needed goods. Further I will work with my state department to ensure that the majority of those 2,500 visas are filled with requests of aspiring Nigerian students. We are eager to import the enlightenment to Africa and we look forward to working closely with your government.

So I see, it is quite refreshing to hear such things as these in the realm of trade. I will see to it that Nigeria receives pharmaceuticals in addition to dairy products and cosmetics. In exchange for these exports. ÈIre would like to receive Crude Oil and Tobacco with the port of arrival and departure being that of Queenstown (Cobn). Regarding the immigration quoatas of your country, we of nothing other than the applicants work ethic and financial independence upon arrival. In return, Èire shall send 1, 500 of its best and brightest to help Nigeria on the long road to peace and tranquilty along with cultural exchange.

We are very happy to sign this trade agreement. We are further very hopeful of a potential planned state visit. This show of unity between our governments will go along ways in showing my people the progress of our westernization process. We are hopeful that this relationship is only the beginning of our strong relations with Europe both in trade and in knowledge and culture.

The Trade agreement would be faxed back to the Irish foreign office via encrypted means.

That's great to hear! I will see to it that a state visit to Nigeria is arranged on behalf of our prime minister. It's time we show the world just how sophisticated our two nation's came be when we are able to stand on our own two feet. On another note the first cultural exchange between us is due to take place in February, hopefully we will get something worthwhile from this experience.

THE FOREIGN OFFICE IN DUBLIN WOULD RECEIVED THE SIGNED COPY OF THE FTA FROM NIGERIA VIA ENCRYPTED MEANS.

My Trade Minister has not yet informed me of any arrivals of Irish Trade Ships to the designated ports as agreed per our treaty, we are inquiring as to whether this was a simple oversight, or if the trade routes are to be canceled?

From Gerald Monahan, Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs

My sincerest apologies, Mrs. Onwuliri for the delay in our communications. The agreement between Èire and Nigeria is still valid and its terms fulfilled as requested. The first shipment will leave Cobh carrying the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics within the next week to Calabar. We in Èire trust that Nigeria will do the same in kind.

Yours truly,
Gerald Monahan
