The Deputy Foreign Minister blinked at the offer of the reduced price. "While that's still a bit steep, I think that is a much more fair price..." he said, "I know that Foreign Minister Vinter already mentioned this to you but I'm not sure that he offered a price... For those islands, and a fair amount of territorial waters around them, the Norwegian government would be prepared to offer $3.5-billion... I am sorry to bring up things already discussed, I just thought I might add a dollar-figure to that.
"Anyway," he continued, "in regards to the 'European Union', Norway, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom are creating the 'European Federation' which is effectively what you are talking about. France, as one of Europe's greatest and oldest nations, could potentially join once it's set up and officially chartered," he casually mentioned.
"The Irish government has acted improper in our view in regards to their stance on Northern Ireland... but we're still really hoping they become more reasonable. I think they have incredible potential as a friendly nation to the rest of Europe - and ISAF nations - but they have to calm down with this plot with Northern Ireland first... I don't consider the CIS an enemy. ISAF is a group of nations, and CIS is another group of nations... I hope we can have positive relations with them. I can't even imagine how much we could accomplish together, instead of apart," he replied.
