The Norwegian ambassador to Ireland, Dr. Jon Agnor, picked up his phone and made a secure call to the Irish Foreign Minister Monahan. He patiently waited for the Irish leader to pick up the phone as he enjoyed a light drink of the Irish whiskey that the Foreign Minister had recently given him.

Foreign Minister Monahan would pick up the phone via an encrypted line at his office in Dublin as a tray of tea and biscuits arrived. "Greetings, this is foreign minister Monahan speaking, how might I be of service to you, your excellency?"

"Good afternoon Foreign Minister. The Royal Air Force is scheduling flights across the Atlantic. However, because of the flight-range limitations of our aircraft, we will have to launch them from Scotland to make it to Newfoundland with little fuel to spare. In order to accomplish this, we would need to fly our C-130s through Irish airspace. Would the Irish government permit us to make these flights through your airspace? They'd be roughly flying over the same latitude as Derry." The ambassador waited for a response.

"Good Afternoon, Your Excellency. Its a pleasure to speak to you again after our previous meeting." He said shortly before taking a sip of his Oolong tea. "With regards to the usage of Irish airspace in order to fly to Newfoundland by aircraft from the Royal Air Force of Norway, the Irish government must respectfully decline its permission. As a neutral entity we do not allow for the entry of foreign military aircraft into our airspace." He said calmly.

"I understand," he said. "Thank you for your time, Foreign Minister. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day." If there was nothing else to be said, he would terminate the phone call and go back to work at his office in Dublin.

"I'm glad to hear that. We bid you and your country no ill will. " he said shortly before ending the call after the Norwegian line fell silent.
