Fighters are kept fuelled and ready to go in 3 8 hour shifts, with at least 4 Rafales and 6 Mirages ready to take off at any moment.

Faced with the reality that terrorism remains an ever-present threat to the Third French Empire and with the recent upgrade to the highest state of national alert, the Imperial Armed Forces have launched Opération Sentinelle, providing for the deployment of regular armed forces in support of the National Gendarmerie, National Police, and Paris Police Prefecture as they combat any terrorist threat. 10,000 Soldiers belonging to the 2nd Mechanized Division were assigned to the operation along with 200 VABs from that same Division. Of these 1,500 soldiers and 30 APCs were deployed in the Île-de-France Region and the remaining forces divided over Metropolitan France. Each of these soldiers would be stationed near critical infrastructure such as nuclear power plants, water treatment facilities, port facilities, airports, etc but also facilities critical to the French nation such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Finally, groups identified as likely targets for terrorists, such as the Jewish population of France, would also see their communities and buildings directly assigned protection.

While the Imperial Air and Space Force always kept aircraft ready in case of a plane hijacking or an enemy incursion into French airspace, the number was increased. While these fighters remained on the ground for now, they were fuelled, armed and ready to take off the moment the order came in to intercept anything.

The National Gendarmerie, National Police, and Paris Police Prefecture would within their areas of operation move to their highest state of readiness and engage in more visible patrols of said areas of operation. Anyone acting suspiciously could be detained and questioned.

Finally the DGSI and DGSE would continue their intelligence work to identify likely threats foreign and domestic. If anyone was identified by an investigation their information would be referred to the applicable police organization.

While the Imperial Navy did not have a direct role in the operation, it would maintain higher vigilance when guarding French territorial waters against possible incursions from the sea.

While the nation was already at its highest state of alert, the London Attacks prompted a shift in the focus of Sentinelle. While all efforts had been aimed at defeating domestic terrorists, the rise of al-Qaeda, a pan-Islamic movement with international roots, meant the security services needed to look outward as well. No longer could they focus just on plots from inside France, but face the threat that at any time an outside force could interfere. Under existing anti-terror legislation the security services would begin monitoring anyone with a visa from a Middle Eastern country, simultaneously the Imperial Air and Space Force would move from ready alert to constant patrols of French airspace, with the aid of refueling aircraft from Air Base 125 Istres-Le Tubé. At all times 4 Rafales and 6 Mirages would be ready to intercept any airborne threats. On the ground police and military forces were instructed to assume increasing visibility and vigilance to counter any threat. While they were already trained for it, once off duty these forces would receive additional training on dealing with suicide bombers.
