Operational Background

With the ongoing coup attempt within the allied nation of Ukraine, Polish Special Forces were placed on active duty and remanded to their bases until operational procedures were established or they were called to stand down. While the situation within Ukraine remains tumultuous, JW Komandosów and 1 Special Operations Aviation Squadron were placed on high alert due to a possible hostage situation escalating within the town of Lviv. During a broadcast, it was confirmed that the heir to the last Hetman of Ukraine was being held hostage by armed gunman thought to be associated with the members of the military apart of the attempted Coup D'état. After commanding officers were briefed of this information by Polish Office of State Protection, an action plan was devised and it was decided to utilize JW Komandosów as the hostage rescue team with the assistance of 1 SOAS.

All vehicles were given a mechanical analysis to ensure the aircraft were flight ready. They were then fueled and weapons fully loaded. While this was occurring, Personnel and military working dogs were fed then allowed to rest before the operation was given the green light. Once all personnel were fully rested, their equipment was put on without any identification that would indicate their nationality as Polish. Dog tags, flags, and other identifying equipment was removed. The forty-eight personnel with the greatest grasp of Russian and Ukrainian were picked for the primary element incursion while the secondary element would act as a Quick Reaction Force in the event casualties were sustained or an immediate reactionary force was required. The elements would be split into Alpha Element(Lead Element) and Bravo Element( QRF). Further each element would be broken down into four teams(Red, Blue, Green, and Orange) Each Team would be have a team marksman and a Military Working Dog.

Once the green light was gained, the helicopters would be boarded by Alpha Element under the cover of darkness and begin their hour and a half journey towards Lviv, Ukraine. During the flight they would maintain a low altitude to avoid Ukrainian radar services. The would maintain normal operating altitude until arriving at Rzeszow, Poland where they would dip down to no less than 3 meters above the tops of the trees and no higher than 10 meters. This was one of the chief doctrines of the Pilots training and they were used to training at this altitude in the darkness.

While the insertion takes place, Bravo Element would be allowed down time but would be required to stay on base and keep their equipment near at all times. Most would just hang out in their barracks or the common room hoping the green light was never recieved.

Polish forces would meet no resistance entering Ukraine. Given the large population of Lviv, some civilians would likely spot the helicopters and stare in surprise. As Polish flags and symbols had been removed prior to the operation, and considering the general unrest in Ukraine at present, most onlookers would assume the forces were Ukrainian units securing the city against riots.

At the Ukrinform TV building, the Ultra-Nationalists were unaware of the impending Polish force. Viewership had gone up in the last half-hour, yet the station continued to play the same cheesy, army commercial on loop. Olena Skoropadsky's initial lack of cooperation, and the embarassing scene that had been made while the cameras were still live, meant that a few tweeks had to be made to the script. With the corrections written and a warning shot from his Makarov, everything was getting back on track. Except...

"Your granddaughter?" Navolsky repeated, shoulders still tense as he glanced around the studio and back at the tech room. He couldn't see the girl or his nephew anywhere. One of the men radioed Maksym.

"Just down the road," came a reply. "Thought it might be quieter. Less stress on Miss Skoropadsky without all the cameras and noise."

"There you have it," said Navolsky to Olena, who still had a few tears streaming down her face. He would order one of the men to grab someone from hair and make up to quickly fix her up.

"Passing Casimir." That was all the radio message from the lead helicopter said as they neared the town of Lviv. The pilots knew the location of the tv station and knew the plan well enough they were not going to risk communications being intercepted. They would utilize their communication devices just to inform command when they passed a checkpoint. In the passenger compartments of the helicopters, the Commandos were readying themselves. Some prayed. Some slept. All double checked their equipment and insured magazines were loaded. A few blocks from the station, the helicopters would slow to a hover and rear doors would open, allowing ropes to be tossed out. The two armed Sokols would monitor the area as the forces fast roped into the night of the town.

Anyone seeing the helicopters would see armed men begin descending from the helicopters on ropes to the ground below. As each man's feet touched the ground, they would grab their rifles and move away from the rope to take up a position of security until the last man would say "Last man." In Ukrainian. Their orders were all verbal communication was to be had in Ukrainian or Russian. Once all four teams were on the ground, the four transport Sokols and one of the armed Sokols would begin the return trip back to Poland to refuel and await word for extraction.

Once on the ground, the four teams would begin moving towards the station. Their firearms would be held at the low ready position and they would hug the buildings and move through alleyways when possible. If confronted by civilians or police forces they would speak in Ukrainian and explain they were there to help protect the city from any would be agitators. At the first sign of conflict with Police, the commandos had been instructed to attempt a non lethal means of subduing them but if the situation required it, they were authorized to utilize deadly force.

Once they were near the station, the four teams would split up to hit the three entrances at once while the fourth team maintained security on the outside. They would monitor the three entrances for guards on the outside, and inside if they could see inside. They would also watch for cameras watching the exterior.
