For the last few days, all hands were on deck as sailors, air crew and marines worked together to load and prepare for four-ship task group that had a long sail ahead of them - New Caledonia. It was the last time their families could spend time with their loved-ones before the deployment that was to take place indefinitely with a rumored rotation period of 8 months subject to operational requirements. Due to the significant distance and the oversea bases operated by the UK in benefit, it was decided the group would travel through the Mediterranean to resupply at Cyprus, passing the Suez Canal to resupply again at Diego Garcia. Despite the long journey, a full itinerary had been put in place to keep all onboard ready. This would include numerous emergency drills such as sinking and fires, regular aircraft deployments and continued maintenance of all vehicles.

All provisions boarded and vessels ready to go, a huge turnaround along the shorelines of family, friends and the general public attended to wave off those deploying on the largest operation since the war with Turkey as the ships begun their departure. Throughout, they'd remain in international waters and abide rules of the road at sea on the following route: IO > IN > IM > JM > KM > KL > KK > LK > MJ > MI > NH > OH > PH > QH > RG.
