These groups will work in tandem to first learn then perform Special Operations utilizing the 7th Coastal Brigade as enemies. Direct Action includes effectively utilizing ambushes, sabotaging the enemy, or raiding enemy positions to gather information or capture personnel. One of the most common forms of Direct Action Raids is the helicopter interdiction or vehicle interdiction. This is generally done tens to hundreds of miles behind enemy lines with limited support. Hostage Rescue and Personnel Recovery involves rescuing friendly personnel from behind enemy lines or from enemies if captured as prisoners of war. It is also utilized to rescue civilians from enemies or criminals. Most common is recovering friendly personnel who have been trapped behind enemy lines or civilians who have been captured by criminals. Combat Search and Rescue is search and rescue operations that occur in or near a combat zone. Most common form of CSAR is recovering wounded friendlies during a firefight or recovering the dead body.

To accomplish these goals, the Special Operations Candidates will perform various tasks under the direct supervision of commanders against REDFOR Units. Operations will occur both during the day and night. Most often each mission will be performed with limited sleep or after a full day of recovery. ________________________________

This is done rapidly, and accurately, engaging targets at various distances. They will also learn to accurately engage moving targets at various distances. Counterinsurgency training involves learning to identify insurgents, cordon and search, which involves cordoning off an area and searching it for munitions or insurgents, training local authorities that can be trusted, assist in establishing a paramilitary force within local authorities that specialize in counter-insurgency. Urban operations involves learning how to move within tight quarters of a city or town, effectively fighting the enemy while limiting civilian casualties, learning to fight in narrow alleyways, buildings, sewage tunnels, subway systems, and how to identify enemy ambush locations and sniper locations.

Live fire maneuvers utilizes everything learn previously. Live fire training involves moving through a rural area into an urban center while engaging hostiles. After en-masse live fire maneuvers the Special Operations Candidates will be split up into 8 man teams and be required to maneuver through the urban area to an extraction site, a hostage location, a VIP, or enemy commander. Utilizing previous interdiction training, Special Operations Candidates will be required to extract the hostage, VIP, or enemy commander without losing a man. Loss of two or more men will end the exercise and team will be forced to reattempt the exercise before moving to Phase IV. Sensitive Site Exploitation involves maneuvering to a known 'sensitive site' that may or may not contain WMDs or intelligence(both will be known as sensitive data). Once there Special Operations Candidates will be required to locate the sensitive data, gather as much intelligence(or safely pack the WMD) before extracting with limited casualties. Operations will be held at different times of day to better acclimate the candidates to different operating times.
