Day 1-14: 100 Army Ranger Wing Soldiers begin their Combat Water Survival Training.
The purpose of the Combat Water Survival Training is to both test and to build the confidence and water survival skills. All Army Ranger Wing Soldiers are required to successfully navigate the following requirements:

  • A 3-meter drop into water, blind folded and carrying a mock AUG A3,
  • Swim 15 meters in uniform, with gear while keeping a mock AUG A3 rifle out of the water.
  • Execute submerged equipment removal techniques. For this requirement, soldiers must jump into deep water wearing load bearing equipment. While underwater, they must release the equipment, swim to the surface and reach the edge.
  • Tread water for five minutes
  • Swim for 10 minutes, non-stop, using any stroke.
Those that fail will be re-tested no later than 14 days after initial test. If failed again they will recycled to the next class. Continued failure will result in drop from the course and sent to the Infantry.
