Cemîl Bayik was no ordinary man, he was an intimidating figure of the Kurdistan Workers' Party and with the recent offer of peace with Turkey, he had some thinking to do but wanted reassurance from the main government of Turkey that nothing out of the ordinary was going to happen and with that, he set up a video call and attempted to begin a video call the highest person in office currently within Turkey at the current moment. The call was not encrypted on the Kurdish side as they had no means of encrypting a call as they lacked the technology to do so.

"Sir, Cemîl Bayik is trying to get in touch."

The Grand Vizier looked up from his desk at his secretary. His expression was one of total surprise.

"Bayik?" Olağan repeated. "Already? I honestly thought they'd take the time to think it over. If he wants to talk, then I'm more than happy to!"

His secretary nodded and retreated from the room to retrieve a laptop. Moments later, he returned and placed the device in front of The Grand Vizier.

"It should be patching through now, sir."

"Marvellous!" Olağan remarked with a smile. "Thank you very much, I don't know what I'd do without you. Now, let's see if..."

He taps a couple of random keys, unsure of what he was doing, but jumped slightly when he saw the call finally initiate.

"Good grief!" He exclaimed, before pointing at the screen. "I can see him!"

"Yes, sir, he wishes to talk via video link."

"It's like he's in the room with me now." The Vizier remarked, ignoring his secretary's explanation. "Hello? Wait, where's the microphone... Don't I get a handset like a telephone?"

"No, sir, the microphone is built into the laptop."

"Oh..." Olağan murmured before bursting into laughter. "Haha! Oh, I see! Right, well... Hello, Mr. Bayik, what can I do for you today?"

Cemîl Bayik smiled as the Grand Vizier appeared on screen, he reached inside his pocket and withdraw a cigar and lighter, he sparked it up and placed it inside his mouth as he watched the Grand Vizier and his aide fumble around until they finally made contact.

"Hello. It's a pleasure to speak with you today."

He had a couple more puffs on the cigar before finally speaking again.

"I will not agree with the demands you have set out to me. I simply cannot do that. I will however lay down my arms if you will pardon all members of the PKK whether they have committed acts in or outside of Turkey. I also want proof of Abdullah Öcalan being alive, for all I know, he could be at the bottom of the Marmara Sea for all I know. I demand he is brought to a neutral country. I will visit that neutral country alone and you will visit that neutral country alone and that neutral country will act as a mediator for future negotiations. I don't know... Spain for example. If you do not comply with these demands then who knows what will happen. I hope you chose wisely. Hoşça kal."

The leader attached a document with an email which they could be contacted on and then ended the call and stood up as he looked over to the soldiers behind the camera.

"Pig."

"Hello!?" Olağan cried when the screen went black. "Come back!"

After spending a moment tapping a couple of the keys helplessly, The Grand Vizier sat back in his chair and ruffled his hair.

"He's gone, sir." His secretary stated.

"I know that!" The Grand Vizier replied in irritation. "Why didn't he want to agree? There must be plenty of PKK members who've not had anything to do with drugs or violence!"

"I could not say with any accuracy, sir."

Olağan huffed sadly and folded his arms.

"What about that request he made? Should I do it?"

"Personally, sir? I wouldn't."

"Why?"

"Well, if you go there alone, you put yourself at risk of being kidnapped, since you've no guarantee that he will do the same. If you bring bodyguards, you will be denounced as a treacherous individual."

"So, I can't win?"

"Pretty much, sir."

Miserably, Olağan sighed and buried his face into his hands.

"Leave me, I need to think about this alone." The Grand Vizier said. His secretary nodded and swiftly vacated the room. After a few minutes of thought, he opened up his email account and began drafting one to send to Bayik.

To Mr. Cemîl Bayik,

After some consideration, I am willing to accept your request regarding us meeting in a neutral country to prove that I, and my government, have genuinely released your ideological founder. However, I must stress that I cannot, in good conscience, consider loosening the requests I put forward. The PKK, without a doubt, has caused many deaths, regardless of whether these acts were done for the goal of Kurdish nationalism or not, they are still crimes, and the victims and their loved ones deserve justice. That is why I made that request. The same applied to the request to have any and all people involved with the claims of drug trafficking surrendered. Before anyone on this planet can reasonable accept The PKK as a genuine political movement, it needs to shed the reputation it has made for itself. Like a cocooned caterpillar, it must break free of its prison, so that it can spread its wings as new butterfly.

Regardless of whether you will accept these demands as they are or not, I am more than willing to come, alone, to Spain with Abdullah Öcalan, on the condition that the Spanish authorities provides security for the three of us. As for pardoning PKK members for acts performed outside of Turkey, I'm afraid that I cannot do that, since I have no power over other nations and their desire to hunt down those that have broken their laws.

Best wishes,
Olağan Bilgelik

I have no contacts within Spain so I politely request that you contact the government of Spain to request that they act as a mediator in these peace talks. I will not agree to these demands unless you issue pardons for the people of the Kurdistan Workers' Party whom have represented over fourteen million Kurds and will continue to represent them day in and day out, we can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way. It's your choice. Choose wisely.

To Mr. Cemîl Bayik,

I'm afraid that I cannot, in good conscience, provide pardons to murderers. If you were in my shoes, where I was asking for Turks to be given pardons for killing Kurds in Kurdistan, you wouldn't consider it for a moment... And neither would I. Murder is murder, no matter what the motive, and nothing on this earth could persuade me to reconsider.

Disregarding this unfortunate deadlock, I shall be contacting Spain to ask them if it's possible to, at the very least, facilitate the meeting you requested on neutral soil to see your founder alive and well. However, I wish to enquire as to whether you would like to be carbon copied or directly involved in the arrangements of this meeting before I do so.

Best wishes,
Olağan Bilgelik
