Director Yasmine Handal,

First I would like to say I have greatly enjoyed my time be hosted within your beautiful nation as Ambassador for Poland. The culture and dynamic of your people have made my stay here beyond pleasant and enjoyable for both myself and my family.

The reason for the communication is to further the relations between our two nations beyond the opening of embassies. With Egypt's recent purchases of equipment from Polish Defense Exports, I would like to formally enter talks with your government to establish a dedicated trade route between our two nations to bring our people closer, both economically and culturally. While I understand the ceaseless nature of government, I would like to begin these negotiations as soon as you are available to meet with me.
To give a brief highlight of talking points:

  • Customs, Tariffs, and Duties
  • Technical Barriers
  • Regulations
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Duration
  • Establishing Protected Trade Routes
Kind Regards,

Lew Jaworski
Polish Ambassador to
The Sultanate of Egypt and the Sudan

Mr. Ambassador,

It would be very agreeable to meet with you in person in my office at our administrative building here in Cairo. Our current trade relations, I believe, are lacking considering our nations' relationship. There is an additional topic I would like to add to the agenda, a matter of high importance to the Sultan, namely the discussion of our new government corporation, the Suez-Alexandria Freight Authority.

We may meet whenever you are most available. I look forward to seeing you.

Best,
Yasmine Handal
Director of International Trade
Sultanate of Egypt and the Sudan

Lew Jaworski would have made a meeting time with the Director of International Trade weeks before. This day he would find himself wearing a fine suit and heading towards office of the Director of International Trade in one of the armored Mercedes-Benz S600s purchased for governmental use and distributed to operating embassies and government offices within Poland. Upon arriving at the office, he would insure the documents within his briefcase were correct and well ordered before stepping out of the car and into the hot Egyptian sun. With a final straightening of his tie, the Ambassador would enter the administrative building and approach the receptionist after going through whatever security measures they had within the building to respectfully introduce himself and inform them of his meeting with the Director of International Trade, Yasmine Handal.

A curt receptionist would quickly check the appointment on her computer before directing the ambassador down to walk down the hall, take the second right, then the first left, with the Director's office at the end of that hall. As Jaworski went down the drab yellow hallways, he could see cramped office spaces filled with Egyptian admin workers shuffling paper for largely non-digitized government systems under flickering fluorescent lights. In the heat of the day, most men's collars were undone and fans buzzed in every corner. From the outside, it appeared as chaos, but it functioned. In one cramped conference room, a short man was yelling about railroads while he stripped off his tie in frustration; down another hallway, an impromptu meeting of men in slacks and dress shirts was guided by a large poster showing a series of newly produced freight ships. At the very end of the last hallway sat a small office, with a simple sign reading Yasmine Handal above Director of International Trade. The door would be ajar, and if Jaworski knocked, he would be invited in.

The office was small, somewhat cramped, with tables along either side covered in boxes of files and loose papers. A small tabletop Egyptian flag and the flag of Port Said sat on her desk, next to her bulky laptop that she would close and replace with a manila folder as the ambassador entered. Standing to shake his hand, she introduced herself.

"Ambassador, I'm glad you came. I'll admit it, I was very pleasantly surprised when I heard that you were interested in exploring trade options between our nations. I am aware that our nations have closely cooperated for a while now in other realms. If this goes well, Poland very well may be established as our first international trading partner. Welcome."
