Trouble in Europe
Sparrow Industries, widely known as the world's largest defense and financial lender, has sent a series of shockwaves throughout the globe by announcing an abrupt and unexpected closure of its defense and financial arm. The sudden shutdown of the giant conglomerate has left many governments, military officials, and industry stakeholders grappling with the implication for ongoing military contracts, global security, and the financial security of certain nations. Known for its cutting-edge defense technologies and strategic partnerships with numerous nations, Sparrow Industries has long been a dominant force in the international defense market. The company's closure has raised concerns regarding the continuity of crucial defense projects and the potential security void left in its wake.

While the exact reasons for the closure of Sparrow Industries remains unclear, insiders suggest a combination of financial troubles, internal restructuring challenges, and a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape may have contributed to the decision. The impact of the closure is felt not only by the company's thousands of employees but also by the governments and armed forces heavily reliant on Sparrow's defense systems. Analysts predict that the sudden void left by Sparrow will prompt a scramble among other defense contractors vying for a piece of the lucrative contracts now up for grabs. The ripple effect is expect to touch various regions, as many countries has utilized Sparrow for the defense strategies.

Governments with existing contracts and projects involving Sparrow are now faced with the daunting task of reassessing their defense capabilities and financial situation due to now defunct loans that are up for repayment. This unexpected challenge may lead to delays in military modernization programs and national infrastructure projects to support their citizens, leaving them vulnerable to national security risks. The closure has also raised questions about the role of governments in support and regulating defense contractors of such magnitude. Critics argue that the sudden demise of Sparrow highlights the need for enhanced oversight and contingency planning to mitigate the potential fallow from the collapse of major defense players.

As the global stage for finance and defense undergoes a seismic shift with the closure of Sparrow, stakeholders are left to navigate an uncertain future. Governments, military leaders, and industry experts will be closely monitoring the aftermath, seeking solutions to fill the void left by the once-dominate defense giant. While the full extent of the impact is yet to be realized, it is expected to near the levels of the European Financial Crisis some years back. The closure of Sparrow Industries serves as a stark reminder of the interconnected nature of global security, finance, as well as the delicate balance maintained by the world's largest defense contractors. As nations reevaluate their defense strategies, the legacy of Sparrow Industries hangs over the industry, prompting a critical examination of vulnerabilities inherent in relying on a single, massive player in the complex world of international defense and finance.

One of the nations who appear to be taking it quite hard, is the Republic of Germany. With critics of the current government of Chancellor Schreiber accusing his administration of contributing to the escalation of the crises. The Kingdom of Canada has reportedly blocked accounts owned by Sparrow Industries and her former employees from accessing the bank to prevent the repayment of the loan taken out by the previous government. Controversially, Portugal appears to have shouldered their burden of debt and paid off their undisclosed debt by the full amount after the announcement of the closure. Luckily, the Kingdom of Poland had not felt it necessary to take a loan out nor is it expected to effect Poland's economy as harsh as other nations that either had defense companies apart of the conglomeration or had loans owned by Sparrow Industries.

Troubles Between the Republic of Germany and the Empire of France

Those of us here at the PAP would like to preface this message with the statement of nonsupport for the current administration of the Republic of Germany and are just revealing known facts regarding the issue arising between two nations in Europe
In a sudden change of pace for the European continent, Europe finds two of its nations at each others throats for various reasons. With the National Democratic Party of Germany rise to power, a known ultranationalist political party with loose ties to Neo-Nazism, on a promise to abolish rule 79 of the Basic Law of Germany some nations have felt they were beholden to impose sanctions on a sovereign nation. Specifically the Empire of France. In a news article by French news company Le Monde, that can be read here, the French government has imposed restrictions on the Germany defense forces and economy citing their reason as "French state has a direct role on German governance." Without revealing the full context of the conversation between the Empire of France and the Republic of Germany we may not know what was said but we felt it in a journalistic code to insure the truth is printed regardless of the damage that may be done. And thus, we have spent the past day pouring over the Treaty on the Final Settlement with Respect to Germany that was registered by Germany on 1 December, 1992. We will have excerpts from the treaty, as well as a link to the treaty in full at the end of this story, along with an explanation as to the wording. The articles being brought up are in a direct response to the well written Le Monde article.

Article 7.1 "The French Republic, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America hereby terminate their rights and responsibilities relating to Berlin and to Germany as a whole. As a result, the corresponding, related quadripartite agreements, decisions, and practices are terminated and all related Four Power Institutions are dissolved." This Article of the Treaty quoted by the Le Monde article nullifies the statement that " the French state has a direct role on German governance". Per the signing of the Treaty by the French Republic, France, in whatever form of Government she finds herself in, retains zero ability to dictate the actions of the sovereign nation of Germany.

Article 7.2 "The unified Germany shall have accordingly full sovereignty over its internal and external affairs." This article of the Treaty would indicate that France, itself, would be the one in violation of the treaty by attempting to influence the internal actions of the sovereign nation of the Republic of Germany.

It is our personal opinion here within the Polish News Agency that the Empire of France has overstepped their bounds, despite how well intentioned it was. While the people of Poland are not in agreement with the political aspirations of the current administration of the Federal Republic of Germany, we find ourselves condemning their actions from afar rather than meddling in their internal affairs. While the National Democratic Party of Germany was elected democratically on the promise of the abolishment of a Law of the Basic Laws of Germany, we cannot find ourselves preemptively striking a sovereign nation with sanctions in an effort to exert control over the internal affairs of a sovereign nation. If all the nations in the world did so, I'm sure there are several sanctions that would have been placed on Thailand, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom regarding certain rules and laws that exist within their own constitutions and law books. While we will always recommend standing up to a bully, we must insure that in doing so we do not become the bully ourselves.

The treaty in full can be read here

Current State of European Affairs
After recent articles written by French Le Monde and German Der Spiegel asking questions in regard to where the European Power has went, we here at the Polish Press Agency have decided to add our names to the group of opinion articles circulating on this issue.

There are no arguments on our end in regards to the statements made by Le Monde and Der Spiegel. We have also found that the European leadership has found themselves adopting the isolationism that was popular prior to the World Wars that decimated Europe, and the world. The increasing reliance on American and British powers to assist with mainland issues has become a growing joke amongst Polish youth for years. Now with Thailand itself patrolling the waters of the Mediterranean, it seems Europe is no longer the economic and defensive powerhouse it once was. Something that every leader of Europe should be ashamed of. Civil wars in two nations. Terrorist attacks on the oldest institution in Europe. These are not merely slaps to the face of the European continent but an outright declaration of war on the collective framework of Europe itself. Europe should be the ones handling European crises. Europe should be the one assisting European nations with conflicts. Europe should stand together. While Poland cannot claim being fully free from this condition that infects us, they have done more than some nations. Attempts to unify Eastern Europe under an economic banner, as well as joining the talks for the creation of a European Union, alongside the Netherlands. This efforts did not prove fruitful as there has yet to be another summit for the formation of this European Union.

We write this while the United States once again rescues the European continent and provides us support we should be able to handle ourselves. The No-Fly Zone and No-Go Zone outside of Italy, while not America's fault, is still an insult added onto injury to the pride of the people of Europe. Who will be the one to bring Europe together. Will it be France? Will it be Italy? Will it be Germany? Will it be Poland? We will have to wait and see.

Terrorist Attack in Paris
BREAKING NEWS: Just minutes ago we have received word that the city of Paris was hit by a series of explosions throughout the city. Reports of armed gunman have also been received but have been unsubstantiated at this point. It would appear the the Bataclan has at the very least been partially destroyed with parts of the ceiling caving in. Reports of French special forces operating within the area have also been reported by survivors of the attacks but without a statement from the French government we are unable to substantiate this at the current time. Please stay tuned for further developments as we continue to monitor the situation.

Editorial
afd-droht-spendenskandal.jpg

Her Excellency Verena Schreiber
Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.

As I assume the responsibilities of office, my commitment to steering the nation towards rejuvenation takes shape within a unique domestic agenda. Our nation faces formidable economic challenges, dilapidated public services, and complacency within our security apparatus. In this political landscape, the need for innovative solutions to safeguard our sovereignty becomes even more crucial.

In pursuit of our domestic agenda, my government is dedicated to overhauling Germany's economic landscape. Focused on addressing the serious economic challenges, our policies center around revitalizing key industries, promoting domestic production, and fostering a robust national economy. With an emphasis on self-sufficiency, we aim to reduce reliance on external forces, ensuring the economic resilience of our nation in the face of global uncertainties.

Simultaneously, our commitment extends to the restoration of public services. Recognizing the dilapidation of essential services, our administration pledges to clean the system which is plagued by bureaucratic interests and not the people's interest. By taking on this monumentus task we must realize that bureaucracy can not serve the people with the way things are currently working. We seek to enhance the quality of life for our citizens, fostering a society that thrives on well-being and prosperity. Most crucial we must prepare Germans for a changed world.

Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world, my proposal for a European framework for cooperation, Nordostbahn, takes on added significance. While we pursue our domestic agenda, it is imperative to recognize the broader geopolitical challenges. The fall of the Iron Curtain in the East is mirrored by a new one rising in the West, as France, with imperial ambitions, seeks to undermine the stability of Europe.

It is essential to unmask the threat posed by France. The actions of this nation, unchecked, have the potential to plunge Europe into chaos. France's interference in Italy's civil war, its imposition of indiscriminate sanctions, and attempts to restrict access to European multinational corporations are clear indicators of a looming threat.

Peace in Europe remains elusive if we allow France to pursue its ambitions unchecked. The nation is not merely asserting its dominance but creating tangible threats to the fabric of Europe. Its involvement in Italy's civil war, backing of monarchists, and efforts to prolong conflicts paint a picture of a nation eager to disrupt the stability of our continent.

In response, I advocate for a new vision, Nordostbahn, foreign policy plan that positions Germany as a conduit for intergovernmental cooperation. This initiative aims to bring together the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Norway, Denmark, Austria, and Finland, fostering collaboration on European security and national sovereignty.

Nordostbahn stands as a counter-weight to hegemonic attempts by Anglo-American and French powers to govern Europe. Grounded in collaboration, innovation, and a deep respect for national sovereignty, this initiative seeks to challenge hegemonic efforts collectively. The goal is not to establish German hegemony but to unite against any form of dominance, enabling us to pool resources and stand together against external pressures.

In answering the calls raised by Der Spiegel and other European outlets, I hope other European leaders will answer the a call to action, as I urge us to work together and achieve more for the collective benefit of our nations, while safeguarding Europe from the perilous course set by France. Nordostbahn represents a transformative vision for Europe, one that not only promotes cooperation and defends national sovereignty but also serves as a shield against the looming threats posed by unchecked French ambitions I am eager to find

Unrest in Singapore
Tensions exploded in the city-state of Singapore this week after the government of the Republic chose to adopt a controversial campaign to adopt Singaporean Mandarin as it's official language. Singaporean media portrayed the act as something that the people wanted to better unify the country under a singular national identity. This has caused some concern amongst Polish political analysts who feared the campaign would alienate minorities within the city-state as well as cause a further language barrier for tourists and immigrants to overcome as move to the predominately Asian nation. Even some Singaporean analysts predicted social instability with the campaign, the Singaporean government persisted with their implementation of the 'Speak Mandarin Campaign'.

Tensions continued to escalate throughout the week as students of all ages staged protests and walkouts against the controversial policy that could seek to alienate minorities within the nation. The Singaporean government's response to the protests and walkouts was to declare them illegal gatherings, requiring the protestors to apply for a permit, and began deploying police forces in riot gear to combat the growing groups of protestors. The protests were expected to remain peaceful throughout the week, however it is believe local police forces escalated the situation which resulted in a foreign national being hospitalized after a brutal beating that has been captured on film. The videos show the Singaporean police officers beating the young Indian national with weapons and feet until she was rendered unconscious. Protestors that attempted to intervene on her behalf were arrested and taken away in restraints while the young woman laid unconscious on the Singaporean street, covered in her own blood. The video shows an agonizing amount of time before anyone from the police force attempted to provide aid to the unconscious woman.

After being rushed to the hospital, her situation remained critical for the night. We have reached out to the hospital in question for comments but they refused to do so until they were able to get in contact with the young girl's family in India. It was confirmed this morning that the foreign national, whos name has yet to be released to the public, has passed away from her injuries. The official report states the cause of death as severe trauma to the head and body. Local press that were on site were able to confirm that doctors attempted to resuscitate the young lady utilizing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation techniques as well as the use of a defibrillator but were unable to get the young woman's heart back into sinus rhythm. Ultimately, the young lady had her life cut short by the actions of an overzealous police force attempting to prevent the free speech guaranteed to all individuals in the world. Because of this the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released this response to the victim's family and to the world.

"First and foremost I would like to offer my condolences to the family of the young woman that was tragically killed in Singapore during the protests against the "Speak Mandarin Campaign". There are two explanations for the death of this young woman, one is that the Singaporean government is unable to control their police force in response to the protests. The second explanation is the police force has not received enough training to handle high pressure situations such as this. This young woman had her entire life ahead of her but it was extinguished because she was attempting to utilize her universal right of free speech against something she did not agree with. In response to this the Kingdom of Poland is officially establishing a travel advisory against visiting the Republic of Singapore on the basis of human rights violations, political unrest, and a lack of safety within the local governments that extends to the local police forces. We hereby advise all Polish nationals within Singapore to leave the country immediately. For assistance in leaving the country reach out to the Polish embassy within Thailand at the number +66 2 079 7300 or via email at bangkok.amb.sekretariat@msz.gov.pl. We will be working with elements of the Thai government as well as the Ministry of National Defense to insure the safety of Polish citizens abroad. Any other foreign national that is having trouble leaving Singapore and would like to, feel free to reach out to the same points of contact where we will work with your government to extract you from the region should you wish it.

Second, we would like to condemn the actions of the local government and local police forces for how they handled the situation. We are hereby offering the Singaporean government assistance in training their police forces to insure that another family is not ripped apart due to the lack of training or empathy of their police force."

New Caledonia Insurrectionists Clash with Polish Humanitarian Forces

New Caledonia, a picturesque archipelago in the South Pacific, has been plunged into chaos as tensions between indigenous insurrectionist groups and foreign humanitarian forces reached a boiling point. In a shocking turn of events, insurrectionists launched a brazen attack on Polish humanitarian forces stationed in the region, culminating in a devastating bombing of the main port in Nouméa.

The conflict, rooted in decades-long aspirations for independence from French rule, took a violent turn when insurrectionist groups targeted the Polish humanitarian mission operating on the island. The humanitarian forces found themselves caught in the crossfire of a conflict they had not anticipated.

Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of panic and destruction as insurgents launched coordinated assaults on Polish humanitarian outposts across the island. Armed with rifles and makeshift explosives, the insurrectionists unleashed a wave of violence, determined to drive out what they viewed as foreign intervention in their struggle for self-determination.

In a brazen display of force, insurgents stormed the main port in Nouméa, unleashing a devastating bombing that rocked the coastal city to its core. The explosion, which ripped through warehouses and cargo terminals, sent shockwaves reverberating throughout the island, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Amidst the chaos and confusion, reports emerged of casualties among both humanitarian personnel and local residents caught in the crossfire. The attack on the port dealt a severe blow to the island's already fragile infrastructure, disrupting vital supply chains and plunging the region into further turmoil.

In the aftermath of the attack, emergency services scrambled to respond to the unfolding crisis, tending to the wounded and evacuating civilians from affected areas.

Meanwhile, the Polish government vowed to stand firm in its commitment to providing aid and assistance to those in need, despite the grave risks posed by the escalating violence. Efforts to evacuate humanitarian personnel from the island were underway, as authorities grappled with the daunting task of restoring order and stability to the embattled region.

As the sun set over the smoldering wreckage of the main port, the people of New Caledonia braced themselves for the uncertain days ahead, their hopes for peace and reconciliation overshadowed by the specter of escalating violence and unrest.

Poland's Victory over Kanak Independence Movement and the Immediate Aftermath

Warning: Graphic Language

In an enchanting archipelago nestled in the heart of the Pacific Ocean is a realm where the sublime beauty of nature dances with the rich tapestry of indigenous culture. Imagine a land where the turquoise waters gentle kiss the pristine white sands and the lush, emerald jungles whisper ancient secrets to those who wander through them. Where the air is perfumed by the delicate fragrance of frangipani and hibiscus while the gentle melodies of exotic birds create their own symphony that resonates with one’s soul. Even the majestic mountains rise from the landscape and create an air of mystique from the mists that hang near the top.

That is how one used to describe the colonial holding of Imperial France up until a few days ago when the Polish Peacekeepers were set upon by a group of rebels calling themselve the Kanak Independence Movement, known as the KIMs by the Polish forces, without cause. With a near perfect two year history of providing medical services, food, and security assistance to local gendarmerie without incident, the attack was set off by the kidnapping of a young Captain who was providing medical assistance to a small village. From there he was lured away by a local woman to a hut where he was stripped, beaten, and then executed by members of the Kanak Independence Movement. From there, the officer’s uniform was used in an attempt to launch a VBIED(Vehicle-Based Improvised Explosive Device) attack against the Polish Base. Due to the actions of a Military Working Dog named Kovacs, the attack was foiled by the GROM special forces operators who were there to assist in security.

Reports state that immediately after the quick actions of the unnamed Operator, that the main port facility was subject to a large explosion that has since rendered it inoperable until repairs can be made. That seemed to be the signifying action that launched the attack on the base. The initial ambush lasted for until the early hours of the next morning when the K.I.M insurgents returned into the jungle like ghosts returning to their graves. It was during this regrouping effort that the commander of the ground forces, an unnamed Captain from GROM, would make an impassioned speech. I have since received an audio recording of the speech and have included it alongside a transcript.

"Brave soldiers of Poland, today you have faced the fury of our enemies and you have stood tall. Their attack was cowardly and fierce but your courage was more fierce. They sought to break our lines, to shatter our resolve, but they have only served to strengthen it.

I can see in each of your eyes. The same fire that will be burning in the heart of every Pole back home. The same unyielding spirit that empowers our nation. We stand here, not just as soldiers, but as defenders of democracy and freedom. Defenders of every law abiding citizen of New Caledonia these cowards have attempted to kill.

The enemy will come again, their numbers will be greater, and their weapons more fearsome but remember this. The strength of our arms is matched only by the strength of our wills. We are the heirs of a proud legacy. Warriors who have fought for freedom throughout the ages.

Hold this ground as if it were your very home, because it is. Every inch of this land is soaked with the blood, sweat, and tears of those who came before us. We shall honor their memory by our actions from here on.

Stand firm, my brothers and sisters. Stand strong. Let the enemy know that every step they take will be met with resistance. Every blow they strike will be answered tenfold. We are not just fighting for survival. We are fighting for the honor of our people. We came to protect the citizens of New Caledonia from insurrectionists and we have had it easy up until this point. Let them know why the Ottomans were too afraid to enter Europe again. Let them know why the Germans and Soviets could never keep our ancestors down. Let them know why we are known as Polish citizens and soldiers.

Shoulder to shoulder, we will face whatever they throw at us. Together, we are unbreakable. Hold your ground and let them know that the spirit of Poland will never be crushed or influenced by the actions of terrorists. Together we shall show them what it means to be Polish.

For Poland. For New Caledonia, For our families. For freedom.”

Accounts from civilians, Polish soldiers on the ground, and K.I.M members who agreed to an interview report that the soldiers could be heard cheering throughout the Island.

This is where things become hazy for the forces on the ground, including the Thai ‘humanitarian’ forces on the ground. Reports from everyone involved, though no Thai representative could be reached to provide corroboration, indicate that Thai forces on the ground, numbered greater than that of the Polish forces, were not subject to the same attacks rather the opposite. An audio clip and transript was sent to me by an undisclosed source stating that the Thai forces were actively assisting the insurgent forces by giving them the locations of their supply caches that were intended for the law-abiding citizens of New Caledonia. Whether this was an act of cowardice or a part of their new socialist agenda, we do not know at this time. It would be remiss of myself as a journalist to not point out that the reason Polish forces were on the ground was because of an annexation attempt by Thai forces planting their flag on New Caledonian soil. Poland had been invited by the former government of France to assist in dealing with the insurrectionists and that invite was extended by the Empress of France herself. She even placed operational control of all forces into Poland’s hands, even French forces that had not even arrived to this day.

But I have digressed from the events that happened a few days ago. The last, and bloodiest, battle happened just a day and a half before hostilities ended and resulted in millions of dollars worth of damages. Fearing another attack happening soon, the Polish commander made an effort to spare the citizens by ordering an evacuation of the immediate surroundings of the Polish base. It was a few hours after this evacuation that Polish forces came under heavy fire from rocket propelled grenades, mortars, and small arms fire from hundreds of K.I.M. forces attempting to force them from the base. With the only air support available to the Polish forces being the W-3A helicopters armed with UKM-2000 machine guns and marksmen onboard, the Polish forces began a bloody defense of their outpost where the Polish flag had been raised below the French and New Caledonian one. This was to show that the Polish forces would not retreat from New Caledonia until their job was done. And they wouldn’t. As the battle raged on into the dead of the night, the Polish forces would be forced to engage several of the soldiers in hand-to-hand combat several times. And as their own limited supply of ammunition ran out, they would scavenge the enemy’s weapons and begin using them. There are even after action reports(AARs) stating that the MWD(Military Working Dogs) would get involved in the fight. With MWD Kovacs, that averted the VBIED attack, being credited with taking down up to three armed insurgents before he was wounded. During the battle the two destroyers who were there to protect the sovereignty of France’s territorial waters would join in on the battle by firing their five inch guns using callouts from Polish helicopter pilots for points of contact. Having surveyed the damage myself, I can safely say that the fire was definitely a boon for the Polish forces on the ground.

After the battle was over, it is reported that the Captain would release a prisoner with a message that hostilities were over and he wouldn’t accept anything less than the K.I.M. unconditional surrender. He even allowed them to recover their dead comrade’s bodies from the battlefield while he dealt with his own dead and wounded. In the aftermath of Poland’s bloodiest battle to date, there wasn’t a single soldier who didn’t have some sort of wound or damage done to his body. And it was truly a testament to our soldier’s resolve that even when outnumbered 3-1, they would not give up without a fight. Even with limited support.

Two days ago at approximately two-oh-five post meridian local time, the Captain accepted the unconditional surrender of the K.I.M leadership following a display of power from one of Poland’s closest friends, the United States Navy. Two fighter aircraft displaying Marines on the tail would perform what was described to me as a frightening display of speed and firepower as the aircraft sped by at almost 750mph, an action described as buzzing the tower by the popular 80’s movie Top Gun. While what the Captain said to the K.I.M. leadership is unknown at this time, we can be sure that whatever it was, combined by the two fighters, was enough to cow the insurgents into submission. In the two days after the surrender, markets have opened up, medical clinics are being operated temporarily by Polish Forces until their dismemberment back to Poland. The K.I.M. leadership are currently facing a tribunal headed by judges and lawyers flown in directly from Poland. The dead and wounded that are able to be transported by air are being taken by military C-5 aircraft back to Poland where they will receive the best medical treatment available. And reconstruction has begun. Though this is the end of combat for the Island it is just the beginning as to what happened next. Who was responsible for instigating the attack? What could have been done to avoid the devastation? How is Kovacs the Military Working Dog doing? Only one of those I can answer. Kovacs is recovering soundly aboard the OKP Miej Litość after receiving emergency surgery by doctors aboard the ship. From what I hear, the lady dogs back in Poland are looking forward to sniffing the rear of a true war hero.

New Caledonia, The Insurgency, And Devastating Aftermath

In the months following the violent conclusion of the New Caledonia Insurgency and the devastating Battle of Noumea, the impact on the city and its inhabitants has become increasingly apparent. The battle, which saw heavy mortar bombardments by insurgents and intense ship-based artillery fire from Polish forces, left the city of Noumea in ruins. With nearly half of Noumea's population now lacking access to running water or electricity, the estimated cost of rebuilding the city’s infrastructure is expected to approach five billion dollars.

The burden of this immense financial cost could potentially be shared among Poland, Thailand, and France, though the situation is complicated by the economic conditions of the involved nations. Poland, while financially stable, faces concerns from key figures in its economic sector about potentially bearing the majority of the reconstruction costs. France, currently burdened with an estimated sixty billion dollars of debt, finds itself in a precarious position. Much of this debt is tied to its defense sector, and the French government has yet to take significant measures to address it. This financial strain may soon lead to rising unemployment, reduced public services, or even the sale of military assets or extra-territorial holdings in a desperate bid to stabilize the economy. French corporations may also begin seeking new locations to safeguard their operations amidst the economic crisis.

For New Caledonia, the aftermath is dire. With an estimated thirty to forty thousand people without basic utilities, the humanitarian crisis has escalated. The island, known for its beauty, is also notorious for its severe weather, with an average of seven cyclones making landfall each year. The need for repairs during the hottest months adds another layer of difficulty, especially for those citizens suffering from the lack of air conditioning and clean water. Medical experts predict a rise in disease due to the poor sanitation, lack of clean water, and limited food supplies. Although Thailand has a strong track record of delivering essential supplies, recent allegations that Thai forces may have aided insurgents have strained relations with Polish forces, creating a tense and unpredictable situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Kanak Independence Movement (K.I.M.) remains a threat. A recently released video, which we advise viewers to approach with caution, shows K.I.M. forces executing several members of the French government and local police, including key figures in the colonial administration. Fortunately, no Polish nationals were identified among the executed, offering some relief to families anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones. The Office of State Protection has confirmed that it is working with the Australian government to investigate the remaining K.I.M. cells, but has declined to provide further details due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

In conclusion, the repercussions of the New Caledonia crisis are expected to linger for years, with each of the key participants facing unique challenges. France's economic instability, Thailand's damaged reputation, and Poland's losses in both life and resources make this a situation that demands global attention, especially given the potential for further attacks by K.I.M. splinter groups.

On a final note, it has been confirmed that Sierżant Kovacs, a military working dog, has been promoted to Starszy sierżant and awarded the Cross of Valour—the first such honor given to an animal in the Polish Armed Forces in recent history. Additionally, His Majesty King Stanislaus of Grabowski has authorized the creation of the Military Wound Badge, which has been awarded to 274 service members in connection to the attack on FOB Sokoly in New Caledonia. The King has also posthumously awarded the Order of the White Eagle to Captain Mieczysław Gromek and has authorized the awarding of twelve Virtuti Militari to members of the GROM special operations unit for their actions during the battle. As more details about these heroic deeds emerge, we will continue to share their stories.

The Polish-Thai Connection: New Caledonia
By Dora Duda
Polish Press Agency - War Correspondent

During my time in New Caledonia, I've grown to love the enigmatic and colorful people who call this idyllic island home. Among the Kanak, Cadoche, and Zoreille, I've found a truly eye-opening experience. However, that experience has been marred by the devastation in Noumea, caused by the recent conflict between Polish Special Forces and the Kanak Independence Movement (KIM).

The local populace seems divided in their opinions about Poland and the KIM. Many do not view Poland as one of the neo-colonial powers that the KIM paints them to be. Poland’s presence brought the removal of the Thai flag, the establishment of medical centers offering basic healthcare and emergency surgeries, and cooperation with local police to maintain order. One woman shared that without the pediatric doctors the Polish brought, her child would have died during the bombing. Now, she faces uncertainty as she attempts to leave the island with the Thai, alongside thousands of others, in hopes of finding safety—a safety once guaranteed by Polish forces. She firmly believes that the KIM brought death and destruction to their homes.

On the other hand, I interviewed an elderly Kanak man who despises any colonial influence in the governance of their island, Polish or otherwise. Though he was not present during much of the bombing, having evacuated to a family member’s home, he blames the Polish for bringing their military forces to the island. He showed little regard for the Polish lives lost, directing me instead to explore the ruins of the city to see what Poland had wrought.

So, I did. I hired a local driver with a 4x4 truck to explore the island and investigate the true cause of this conflict. What I witnessed to the east of the Polish base, known as Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sokoly, was true devastation. It’s unclear who caused the damage to the buildings throughout the neighborhoods, but it certainly wasn’t the work of just one side's artillery. As I approached the main base, the imposing citadel at the Cruise Ship terminal and adjacent parking lot was a stark sight. The Polish flag flew over the base, beneath the French and New Caledonian flags.

My driver waited outside the compound, as Polish forces refused him entry, while I ventured inside. Though I wasn't allowed to take pictures due to security concerns, I could see that the humanitarian mission had shifted towards something that could be perceived as combat-related. With the conflict between their forces and the insurgents it is no wonder the soldiers fortified their position. What was once a base with chain-link fences and concrete barriers protecting supplies was now surrounded by dirt-filled barriers and armed sentry posts, with clear firing lines towards entry points. The sight of the KTO Rosomak, one of Poland’s warfighting machines with its large main cannon and machine gun mounted on the turret, on foreign soil was shocking. Over two hundred soldiers are present on the base, routinely patrolling the streets of New Caledonia, going as far afield as Port-Laguerre and Plum, where they have set up medical clinics once again. This time, however, the soldiers are under strict orders not to interact with the local population, even bringing their Rosomaks to these clinics to protect the doctors from potential threats.

I had the chance to interview a few Polish forces on the ground. It became clear that they did not trust the Thai humanitarian forces after it was revealed that they had willingly supplied the insurgents. One non-commissioned officer, who asked to remain anonymous, mentioned that if it weren’t for strict orders against reprisals, several men were keen on getting payback. Despite the capture of some KIM leaders, hostilities are on the verge of breaking out again, this time between Polish and Thai forces. The general consensus among the Polish forces is that the Thai humanitarian workers can’t leave fast enough. It’s a shame, they said, that the Thais had convinced so many of the local population to flee to Thailand. Many soldiers are skeptical of the newly founded socialist state and its fragile economy. To them, the Thai soldiers are simply trying to extend their control over the region rather than provide genuine humanitarian aid. Why else would they bring thousands of humanitarian workers to an island with a population of only 260,000+ people?

At the end of this investigation, I witnessed thousands of New Caledonian people waiting on the beach for the Thai forces to gather them onto their landing craft. The question readers must ask is this: what do the Thai stand to gain by transporting thousands of people from their home to a foreign nation when they could simply begin rebuilding Noumea and set up temporary housing here? The money being poured into this humanitarian mission by all parties involved must be astronomical.

Expert Opinion Regarding the Suez Canal Situation

Gabrysia Kaczmarek: Thank you for tuning into Polska Agencja Prasowa. I have a very special guest this morning to discuss with us the Suez Canal situation that has come to surface and what legal rights each party has in regards to the usage of the Canal. Please introduce yourself sir and give a brief overview on your expertise in this particular area of concern.

Andrej Towpik: Thank you Miss Kaczmarek. My name is Andrej Towpik and I am the current Ambassador to the Global Assembly. It is because of my close relationship with the activities and resolutions of the Global Assembly that I am probably the foremost expert on treaties of such magnitude such as the Convention of Constantinople of 1888. As for my experience, I have been Ambassador to the Global Assembly since the early days of the third republic and when the Kingdom was reformed. I have worked closely on several pieces of legislation such as the Resolution on International Diplomacy and for several Peacekeeping initiatives such as Zimbabwe and the Congolese War.

Gabrysia: Thank you Ambassador Towpik. Certainly someone of your experience can provide an certain amount of light on the situation currently unfolding between Egypt and Thailand. My first question is what is the Convention of Constantinople and why does that effect the Suez Canal.

Towpik: I can certainly elaborate on that subject ma'am. The Convention of Constantinople was a convention formed in regards to the Suez Canal by world powers at the time such as the United Kingdom, France,, Germany, Russia, and the Ottoman Empire(amongst others). It is during this convention that it was decided that the all ships would be allowed to pass through in times of war and peace regardless of national origin. During the nearly eighty year period where the United Kingdom was in charge of Egypt, they held effective control over the Suez until Egypt's independence and the nationalization of the Suez Canal Company. In total eight governments convened in Constantinople to discuss the future of the Canal and all eventually agreed on the basic effect that the all travel through the Suez Canal would be guaranteed in peace and in war.

Gabrysia: That seems pretty set in stone, what legal framework does the current Egyptian government have to backup their closure of the Canal to Thai ships.

Towpik: The primary one is that the Egyptian government at the time was not invited to the meeting and thus is not a signatory to the convention. And since the Sultanate of Egypt and the Sudan is a successor state to the Khedivate of Egypt, it is still not a signatory as far as I am aware. This gives them the framework of, they were not involved in the signing of the treaty nor were they a party of the discussions of the convention. Many law makers and politicians could argue that it was an effort of Colonial powers to subvert the ability of the Khedivate of Egypt's ability to self govern and thus the treaty should be rescinded as an act of Colonialism. However, within the treaty itself, Article X of the treaty states that Egypt may take measures for "the defence of Egypt and the maintenance of public order" and this clause was used at least three times in history to close the Canal to certain nations. First during the First World War when the United Kingdom replaced the ruler of the Khedivate and formed the Sultanate of Egypt as a British protectorate to close the Canal to the Central Powers. It was once again closed by the British forces during World War Two to the Axis powers. For the third time the Canal was closed to Israel during the Six Days War. It wasn't until 1975 that the Canal was reopened.

Gabrysia: So what you're saying is that there is historical evidence in recent modern history of the Canal being closed during times of War. But there is not an official war between Egypt and Thailand, correct?"

Towpik: As far as I am aware, there is not a state of war between the Sultanate of Egypt and the Sudan and the Republic of Thailand. What we do have, however, is a nation whos Chief of International Affairs was killed on Thai soil by Thai intelligence service during a sanctioned diplomatic visit. This is often lauded as most public assassination of a public official since JFK in the United States. It is not to far of an assumption that Egypt feels that Thailand poses a serious threat to their national security and that had lead them to close access of the Canal to them. According to Article X, this measure is certainly within legal standing of the Treaty, even if it should be invalidated due to the nature of its signing. This is outside the point of closing it do enemy powers during times of war.

Gabrysia: Thank you Ambassador. As a diplomat with a dozen years of experience on the job and a member of the Global Assembly, what is your viewpoint on what actions should be taken in regards to the Suez Canal, the Constantinople Convention, and the Egyptian-Thai situation growing therein?

Towpik: While this is my personal opinion on the matter and does not, in anyway, indicate the direction the Polish Government is leaning, I must insist on the formal dissolution of the Convention of Constantinople. I would also recommend a formal Global Assembly resolution regarding the usage of Canals such as the Suez and the Panama to better benefit all nations and not just those who were in power over a hundred years ago. I would also urge the Global Assembly and the ICJ to investigate the death of the Moustafa Asker, the Chief of Egyptian Diplomatic Relations, who was killed while within Thailand despite being invited into the nation. This should be an extra-national investigation that originates within the GA and outside of Thai courts to better bring the cause of the death to light and bring anyone specifically responsible to justice. This comes on the cusp of the attempted illegal arrest of the Russian delegation within Thailand during another routine diplomatic visit, which I believe must also be investigated by the Global Assembly for any failings to follow the articles of the Resolution on International Diplomacy, which I can assure you there are.

Gabrysia: Thank you Ambassador Towpik. That is all the time we have today. Stick with us until after the break because we have the weekend's weather report coming up and then this weeks Women's Ice Hockey scores.
