Citizens call for 'economic progress' after fund mismanagement
Hundreds of protesters storm the streets of Lisbon after the recent economic changes
Abel Águeda Pinheiro

LISBON, PORTUGAL – Protesters were seen outside the São Bento Palace carrying signs and protesting the current mismanagement of funds, as seen in the monthly transparency records just released last week. Hundreds were carrying banners expressing their disgust to the current administration and were motioning to a more 'robust' system of the distribution of funds.

The Ministry of Economy had just released the monthly transparency records in accordance with the Transparency Law of 1993, which would require all ministries to post a document with what the ministry had been doing on that month.

The Ministry of Economy's Transparency records have been eyed by both businessmen and Portuguese citizens alike, and a few had taken up arms and marched to the São Bento Palace, carrying banners and signage that express their frustration.

The event organizer, Lara Teresinha Garcia, had criticized the current numbers, and called on for a one-day protest, with "inform them about economic progress" as her main resolution.

The Protest lasted the whole day, with reports of protesters forming around the building as early as 6:00 am. Police were ordered to exercise caution, not to use lethal force unless provoked. Protesters were not allowed to enter the building itself, and were advised not to interfere with local traffic. At noon, police had reported that there were a total of 589 protesters involved, most of which are teenagers.

Minister of Economy, Dom Fábio Chico Alves, has released on a press statement this evening that "Several economic provisions and policies are currently drafted as we speak," and that "The ministry would like to apologize for the issue, and we would like to change this as soon as possible."

The protest concluded without violence, with the streets cleared at around 7:00 pm. According to the police, there were no reported incidents during the event.

RA replaces corrupt politician
The Royal Assembly had used it's emergency powers to overrule the previous Economic Minister
Abel Águeda Pinheiro

LISBON, PORTUGAL – Bells can be heard as the early morning mass had just ended, people can be seen rushing to public transports and the daily struggle. Reporter Abel Pinheiro had just been on the scene, making sure he was shipshape for the early morning news. After a few minutes they were live.

"Good Morning Portugal! I am Abel Pinheiro, and I'm responsible for any hot take on within the Royal Assembly. The rumors about the former economic minister being replaced had just been confirmed, after furious debate sparking after the February protest. The new economic minister would be Dona Erlea Oier Ibarra, a prominent member of the Bloco de Esquerda party."

Shots within the assembly, which had been released to the public, would be in the background as Abel reports away.

"Dona Ibarra had voiced out her concern towards the protesters and promises a 'better-managed' economic system. Although no word had been released to the public just yet, it is safe to assume that she and her peers would work their way to improving Portugal's economic troubles."

The camera then cuts back to a live feed of Abel reporting in front of the Palace.

"Nonetheless, the position of Economic Minister for this year's election would sadly be unavailable for voting in this year's elections which would be conducted later in the year. Dona Ibarra would enjoy her 5-year term as for the time being. What remains true however, is the Portuguese trust towards the government had just been shaken, and hopefully we can sort things out sooner or later!"

Abel laughs, and segways the program back to the main hosts.

Tempo Rapido Railway system underway
Portuguese railway engineers are called upon to deliver one of Portugal's greatest projects
Dan Primitiva Lobo

BRAGA, PORTUGAL – A young man hurriedly scuffles in front of the camera, carrying the signature RTP 1 microphone. He prepares his opening reports. Behind him, construction of a new railway system can be witnessed. Cranes and men can be seen working along the rail lines, with some taking a morning coffee break. Soon after, the camera signals to Dan, starting his live broadcast.

"Yes indeed, what we see here is actual work put forth by our government to 'make better' our current public transport situation. The Tempo Rapido Railway System, or TRRS, as what the minister of transportation calls it, is the new and improved railway system that plans to connect Portugal into one whole railway system."

The camera would cut to different shots of the railway under construction, showcasing the numerous workers on site

"The TRRS would consist of numerous railway networks scattered around the countryside, eventually connected to the main line through 3 primary nexuses. One in Lisbon, another in Braga, and finally, one in Faro. For ease of transportation however, medium sized cities would act as a 'secondary nexus' for smaller ones, and these secondary nexuses would be connected to the 3 main cities."

A graphic would then be shown on the screen for the viewers at home to watch. It quickly changes to shots of different trains that are currently in operation.

"These three nexuses would be connected through one big railway line, the BLF railway line. Numerous sub railway lines would then branch out from the 3 cities to accommodate smaller towns and cities. Efficiency is what the current objective is for the people working behind this project, and they hope to further maintain and improve the current railway systems here in Portugal."

"The Prime Minister hopes that the project would be finished this November, yet there is no 'rush' in completing Portugal's first nation-wide project."

Liberals win in this year's elections
New PM claims "A Great Victory for a more promising Portugal"
Abel Águeda Pinheiro

LISBON, PORTUGAL – For the first time since the fall of the previous government, Portugal's first Parliamentary elections shook the populace with the Portuguese Liberal Democratic Party taking majority of the positions and seats. Election results have been confirmed just two hours ago, after the painstaking process of making sure that each and every vote had been counted.

The Royal Assembly had just finished the final session of the previous cabinet, and the new members of the Parliament are currently being sworn in. In detail, 116 seats were won by the PLDP, 33 seats by the Monarchist Party, 28 for the Socialist Party, 25 for both the Ecologists and the Popular Democratic Party, and 23 for CHEGA.

According to their campaign, the majority government promises to improve Portuguese military investment and improve Portuguese relations by staying true to the belief of not other nations, but to Portugal. Reforms have also been promised, along with several educational and internal reforms designed to improve the ordinary citizen.

Newly Appointed Prime Minister Donato David Nogueria promises to be more involved in the affairs of the nation, claiming that the previous minister had 'done nothing but sit around in office signing love letters.' Prime Minister Nogueria would be sworn later this evening, at the Praça do Comércio along with several other ministers.

The majority of the populace are content with the results, as the polls taken 2 weeks before the election day were accurate in predicting the current political situation. However, not all incidents are without fault. A small amount of protesters were seen around the ballot areas, preaching the ideals of socialism and denouncing other ideologies. Eventually these protesters had clashed with counter protesters, resulting in 2 injured. The situation was quickly deescalated by nearby law enforcement.

To sum it up, the Liberals have the majority of the seats, and they vow to improve Portugal both domestically and internationally. Back to you Fialho.

Universal Fall-back law
Parliament approves of ambitious program
Abel Águeda Pinheiro

"Yes indeed, it has been confirmed by the Assemblia Royal that the proposed Universal Fall-back bill has officially been approved and ratified. The UFB law plans to help aid our Portuguese brothers in need by supplying 2 months allowance for basic needs such as food and water. This however would soon be ratified, as talks have begun of phase two of the UFB, wherein the government would voice out support in favor on food banks and homeless shelters to be built all around the country."

"Multiple companies have already voiced out for support in the new law, claiming that 'we always have a soft spot for our own citizens,' nonetheless, the Government places priority on the homeless and sick, rather than the lazy few. If need be however, the Government does have a second choice for those who are unemployed."

"The UFB law allows people who would sign up to its voluntary "HELP" program, wherein companies can offer potential jobs to those who are in need. Regarding the question on whether it would be successful, such things are left to be answered in the following months. We'll be covering this in the following weeks so stay tuned."

Royal Assembly Ratifies Treaty of Lisbon
Portuguese-Brazilian Relations strengthen under new legislation
Abel Águeda Pinheiro

LISBON, PORTUGAL - Just yesterday, the Royal Assembly had confirmed that the Treaty of Lisbon, which would pave the way to creating the Lusophonic Organization of Free States, an organization that aims to promote peace and prosperity within its members. Although currently, the LOFS is comprised of the primary signatories, Portugal and Brazil, the Prime Minister believes that 'soon enough' other nation states would be invited within its chambers.

The treaty of Lisbon offers Brazil and Portugal the opportunity to strengthen each other's ties, through a series of economic and military legislation. These would, in place, strengthen the relationship between the two countries, enabling each nation to support each other in times of need.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a possible new policy, in which Brazilian citizens can freely enter Portugal even without a visa or passport, as long as valid identification documents are present for security reasons. The MFA promises to contact their Brazilian counterparts in regards to the average Portuguese citizen, after which they would officially announce the implementation of the new travel policy. This promotes the idea of a 'Borderless' relationship between the two countries. We shall update you with further information once it presents itself. This has been Abel Pinheiro, of RTP-1.

Lusophone Navy Engage in Standoff on Rogue Ship
The Portuguese and Brazilian navies endures 18 tense hours of contact.
Ângelo Miguelito Ferreira

An overhead shot of the aftermath is first shown, the boats containing personnel of the navy.
Off the coast of Porto, we have here a standoff between the Lusophone navy, made up of several Portuguese and Brazilian ships, and a lone as of yet unidentified landing ship. According to our accounts, the ship was first spotted off the coast by patrolling Portuguese helicopters, and was subsequently dealt with by the Royal Navy. The ship is a landing ship, designed to carry troops to invade or transport unto coastlines. The Navy still has not disclosed of the nationality of the landing ship, and is refusing to give any more information.

We have, however, requested access to capture scenes of the ship itself, and I along with my crew, were able to hitch a ride unto one of the Air Force's helicopters to the Landing ship. The Pilot has reassured us that by that time, the situation has defused. We were unable to get anyone for interview on deck, but we were escorted to one of the Navy's ships to get an angle on what had happened for the past 18 hours.

Now, the rogue ship is entering the Port of Lisbon for further investigation, and her crew detained in unspecified locations. Even now, the ship's intentions in entering Portuguese waters is unknown, and we hope to hear an official statement from the Portuguese navy soon. This has been Ângelo Ferreira, of RTP1.

Terrorists Bomb Major Population Centers
Explosions rock Madrid, New York, and London
Ângelo Miguelito Ferreira

"This just in, we have reports of explosions on major population centers, mainly Madrid, New York, and London. As of now, we are unable to request the casualty report as emergency response is still on going. Our sources suggest that this may be an act of terror, as witnesses recount vans being parked at locations where the explosions went off. As of now, we have no evidence regarding the connection between the three locations however, it would seem that all targeted locations are high in civilian activity."

"These Cities have issued lock down orders from authorities, as local police are investigating the causes of this catastrophe. In response, the Government has issued heightened security around major population areas, in order to prevent any subsequent activity here in Portugal. If you find anyone suspicious of terrorist activity, such as buying large or unusual quantities of chemicals for no obvious reason, having any suspicious transactions, taking pictures of security arrangements, and suspicious letter or packages, please contact the nearest police station for immediate investigation."

"Remember, donations are still up for the Pacific Nations who had suffered the devastating tsunami following 9.5 Earthquake that hit Chile a few days ago. You may go to the nearest donation center to donate. They are accepting cash, and basic supplies and necessities for the afflicted families. We are working hard to get to our goal of $10,000,000. We will be supplying you with updates in the next hours. This has been Ângelo Ferreira, of RTP1."

Franco-Belgian Forces Clash in Border Incident
French Airforce bombs key military targets
Ângelo Miguelito Ferreira

"We're here live in Brussels, and I can confirm that French Forces had just bombed the Belgian Ministry of Defense and the Runways at the international airport. This was the French Kingdom's response to Belgian personnel violating its sovereignty just mere hours ago. We were going to ask for an interview on Belgian officials regarding the surprise attack on French soil, but we have not heard from them as of now."

"We have received an official death toll from Belgian officials tallying up to roughly 300 lives lost. Many grieve for the loss of their loved ones and Portuguese officials had sent out their condolences to the affected families. The Brussels International Airport was also bombed, with the runways damaged beyond repair. As a consequence, many flights were canceled and incoming flights were rediverted to other airports, to the dismay of the civilian populace."

"We are also receiving reports of a naval strike on the Naval base of Zeebrugge, with Belgian ships sunk by French Missiles. This leaves the Belgian navy crippled, with Portuguese Strategists calling it a 'decisive blow to the Belgian navy's ability to wage war.'"

"The Russian government has voiced over its concern on the two parties waging war, and has issued an ultimatum; declaring the cessation of hostilities, and the establishment of a demilitarized zone on the borders. The acceptance of this ultimatum is currently undisclosed, and we hope to hear from either government soon. This is Ângelo Ferreira, of RTP1."

Explosion decimates US Capitol Building
An unprecedented attack on the people of the United States
Ângelo Miguelito Ferreira

Image and footage courtesy of The Washington Post
"At roughly 9:14 PM in Washington DC, a large explosion was recorded within the United States Capitol Building, while the then US President Bill Clinton was commencing his State of the Union Address. So far, our sources say that there are no survivors to the event, with countless Government units scrambling to take control of the area. The SOUA was broadcasted on live television, and the feed was unexpectedly cut just mere seconds before the explosion. Our international channel did confirm this happening, as it was broadcasting the event to viewers here in Portugal as well. Of what seems to be a technical hiccup, was actually a national disaster for the people of the United States."

A clip of the Address is then played, roughly 10 seconds before the feed was cut off by the subsequent explosion. It then transitions to the aftermath, where footage from local news reporters was played, with permission of course. The scene presented on the TV screens of the Portuguese viewers were violent, with paramedics rushing in to tend to the wounded while firefighters brave the subsequent fires birthed by the explosion.

"Currently, official reports say that US President Bill Clinton, who was at the ground zero of the explosion, is confirmed to have passed away, along with several members of his family. As such, US Vice President Al Gore, who was not present during the Address, is confirmed to have sworn in mere minutes after the incident and is now the 43rd President of the United States of America. Millions are shocked on the turn of events, and we are looking to contact our counterparts in the US to cover and perhaps document the disaster."

"This has been Ângelo Ferreira, of RTP1."
