I would like to formally welcome you to the international community, long as been the world without the beacon of hope that is a unified Korea. As such, due to our vast history together, since the age of discoveries, Portugal and Korea must maintain a healthy relationship, from trade, diplomacy and the interchange of ideas and culture.

I would like to formally invite you to a state visit to Lisbon to further discuss this relationship between our people.

First of all, I wish to thank you for your well wishes and warm welcome. While my absolute love for Korea is what drew me to this Office, it is always great to see similar warm feelings expressed from abroad. While I would love to go on a state visit to your beautiful country, currently the matters of state building unfortunately prevent me for leaving the country at this time. To prevent delaying the re-establishment of relations without need, I suggest that either my Minister of Foreign Affairs be sent in my stead or that I extend my own invitation for us to meet in Seoul.
