If there was one mistake that every regime so far had maintained it was holding onto a dream of owning lands that in no way wanted to belong to China. Under the new China these mistakes would not be repeated, peace needed to be made and a message needed to be sent to the world. As such it was that the Office of the President of Taiwan would receive an encrypted e-mail from the Office of the President of China.

To: Tsai Ing-Wen, President of Taiwan
From: Yuan Zhi, President of the People's Republic of China

Madam President,

For too long have our two countries fought each other over names and lines on a map. The conflict has been exhausting and has allowed neither of our people to move towards a future with confidence. I would like to make the first move in an effort to bring true and lasting peace. As such I would like to invite you or a delegation of your government to meet with myself in Beijing. The topics I would like to discuss there include the formal recognition of an independent Taiwan by the People's Republic of China, policies concerning waterways that cross both our lands and a general dialogue on the future of Asia and a possible framework for friendly cooperation as equals.

I hope you will accept this invite so we can both end something that should have ended sixty years ago.

Sincerely,
Yuan Zhi

As soon as the Taiwanese Vice President entered Chinese territory he would be given the reception befitting a representative of another country. Two J-11s of the PLA Air Force would escort the plane to the Beijing City International Airport where a gate had been reserved. As soon as the Vice President left the plane he would be welcomed by a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as a honour guard. Following the initial ceremony he and whoever joined him would be taken to cars just outside the airport. Zhongnanhai would only be a short ride and the cars were equipped with all the comforts a visiting delegation might want after travelling. Upon arrival the Vice President would be led into the President's office where she was already waiting. Considering the nature of the talks it was deemed best to keep the initial part of the meeting behind closed door. The press could be informed afterwards.

"Mister Vice President, what a pleasure to meet you" Zhi said as she extended a hand.

After the message has been received by PRC President, the Taiwanese VP Chen Chien-jen (Armed with T75 pistol ), alongside with 5x Taiwanese National Security Bureau Agents (armed with T75 pistol, T91 assault rifle) would board on to Boeing 777-300ER "Taiwan Air Force Two" Flight which is operating at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Boeing 777-300ER that madame president already boarded along with her NSB Armed Agents, plane would be fully fueled and taxied on the runway, took off from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. The destination is Beijing City International Airport, Portugal. Upon entering on Portuguese Airspace, Taiwanese Boeing 777-300ER be escorted by 2x J-11 from PLA Air Force, where the plane would land.

The Vice President Chen Chien-jen would left the plane where he was welcomed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Honor Guard. Following the initial ceremony, he and his security would arrived at the President Office. Upon entering the office, VP would shake hands with Madame President.

"It is my hope we can do each other a pleasure, today mister Vice President" Zhi replied with a smile before motioning for the Vice President to take a seat in one of the chairs and herself sitting down next to it. "And I am well, how about you?" Aides would offer their special guest a wide array of beverages.

"As I sent in my original message, China is tired of this decades-long conflict and apologies for the assumption, but I think Taiwan feels similar. I'll take my military training and start quite bluntly. The People's Republic of China will recognize Taiwan as an independent state and we will ask our partners to do likewise. This is without conditions attached. I do however hope that based on the centuries that we have spent as a single country, an arrangement can be found that enhances both our states and improve the sovereignty of the celestial empires."

As Vice President would take a seat while talking to Madame President Zhi, he would drink beverage prior he started to talk.

"I am good thank you. As our current administration is looking for Taiwan to be a independent nation where we would be recognize officially by many nations throughout the world. Portugal has officially recognized us as an independent nation. Now, we are hoping that China recognizes Taiwan. I am not interested to continue the feud that Taiwan and China holding for long term. Now, it is time to move forward. I am just wondering what do you have in mind regarding to waterways and political framework, and future of Asia. I would like to hear more about that."

The man would drink beverage.

Zhi nodded. "Of course, as said. China will recognize Taiwan as an independent state. That is not tied to any conditions or other results from this meeting. Once we are done Xinhua is releasing a statement" She replied as she took a sip from a cup of tea that an aide had given her. "As for the future of Asia, we are the biggest continent in the world, we have some of the oldest cultures, are rich in natural resources and people. We are the future of this world. I want to see an Asia that prospers, as for exact specifics for waterways. That is something our diplomats at a lower level will need to work out, but I do think we can achieve compromises in all regions where claims currently overlap"

"I agree with your statement. My people have waited for their day to recognize by you. I am wondering if you could tell the world that you recognize Taiwan, that would be outstanding and great. As historically we both claims about few regions. I wonder where do you stand? I think it's time to move forward. Embrace culture and recognize Taiwan as an independent nation so that we can live freely without any single fear. Given we had fall out many years, I believe we can be friendly on these issues. What do you say Madame President?"

Vice President of Taiwan would smile and gave PRC President a chance to speak.

"Of course we will inform the world of this recognition. Xinhua has a press statement ready to go as soon as I give the word. I too look forward to a time where Taiwan and China can acknowledge the ancient ties that define us. Not as citizens of the same country but as two equals that share our entire history. To this extent I am willing to engage in negotiations with Taiwan on disputed territories and get a lasting agreement. I would also like to propose an agreement between our two states that we will not engage in aggressive behaviour towards each other nor allow another state to use our territory for aggression against the other" Zhi replied, glad that they were making progress.

"We agree with your statements about not to engage aggressively towards each other. We will not engage or pose such behaviors. By the way we would like to talk about disputed territories. We would like to keep our territories that were claimed by the Republic of China (Taiwan). If we keep these territories, we will be able to make our people happy and we don't want anymore conflicts between both of us. Given each individual countries claims these disputed territories, give them their shares of these territories so that this is win-win condition. Please think about it."

"Excellent, in that case I will have my staff draw up a non-aggression agreement to solidify our mutual peaceful intentions. Regarding the South China Sea dispute and the conflicting claims there, the People's Republic is willing to settle an agreement on the existing status. Meaning the claims would be settled along the lines of physical ownership"
