PROJECT INFORMATION | The Chinook Power Station is a natural gas power plant being built near Swift Current, Saskatchewan. It is being constructed as a 350-Megawatt combined cycle plant. The Chinook Power Station will be able to power up to 350,000 homes throughout Saskatchewan. It utilizes combined-cycle gas turbine technology. This natural gas power is cost-effective and generates fewer carbon emissions than coal. The station would have an operating lifespan of at least 30 years and include a power generation facility, a switchyard, and a new underground water pipeline. New infrastructure will also be constructed to connect the power from the new plant to the local power grid. These lines will help move power to customers in Swift Current and surrounding area. These lines will run about 200 km in length from Swift Current to Moose Jaw. |
