PROJECT INFORMATION | As part of the Egypt 2000 Program, the Government is investing in the modernization and expansion of the nations main airport. The goal is to facilitate the influx of foreign tourism by presenting a better infrastructure for national and international airlines to operate, and better facilities for passenger to make use of. The project will include: - Modernization of Terminals 1 and 2 (incorporation of new technologies and aesthetical renovations). - New security meassures in passenger and customs areas. - Extension of runways 05L/23R and 05C/23C by 20%. - Construction of additional hangars to accomodate more maintenance-service providers. - Cosntruction of a new hotel next to the airport, for transiting passengers. - Improvement of duty-free shopping area, with place for additional shops. - Renovation of control tower equipment and signaling instruments. - New covered public parking building. - New transit-hub for public transport and taxis. |
