PROJECT INFORMATION | Considering the large urban population that inhabits the city of Cairo and its surroundings, and the subsequent relatively high crime rate, the national Government, together with the city authorities have decided to launch a programe destined at reducing the general crime rate and making the city friendlier for residents and visitors. The program includes a direct link with the justice system, in order to provide quicker resolution of presented cases. - A new camera system will be installed all throughout the city, monitoring key areas and intersections. - New quick response units would be created and stationed all around the city, allowing a quicker reaction and increased effectiveness against on-going situations. - Training of the existing police force will be improved, teaching how to better deal with dangerous situations. - More public engagement from police officers would be demanded in order to bring the police closer to the community. - Additional temporary detention facilities will be constructed in order to avoid overcrowding of inmates and to separate minor offenders from more serious criminals. - A new police unit will be created to deal with gender-related crimes and in cases involving minors. |
