| PROJECT INFORMATION | As to facilitate the flow of international tourists into the country, as well as to promot business travelers and strenghten Ethiopian's position as a major international airline, the ethiopian government has decided to invest in the expansion and modernization of the main international airport of the country. The project will include, among other things, a new passenger terminal capable of handling over 3,000 an hour, a new cargo terminal and maintenance hangar allowing to not only service national aircrafts but also to offer maintenance services to foreign companies and operators, the parking capacity will also be increased to be able park 69 aircraft at the same time, including larger sized widebody planes, extension of the runways to allow operation of larger aircraft, new signals and a brand new control tower. On the passenger-service side, an on-site hotel will also be constructed, with sectos both on the security zone and the public area, new faiclities for shops and restaurants, pet resting areas and 3 new parking buildings. It is expected that the project will not only attract mroe tourism to the country but also reduce traffic congestion at the airport and lower operating costs. |
