| PROJECT INFORMATION | Identified as a key area in the long term development plan of Ethiopia's current government, a 3bn program would be started to improve the reach and quality of public education in Ethiopia. The program would include not only improvements and expansions in terms of infrastructure but also an overall increase in the wages of personnel and staff. Infrastructure would be improved in all public federal and provincial states institutions at pre-school, primary, secondary, tertiary and university levels. A special budget would also be allocated to schools for children and adults with special care and capacities. Some of the elements of the program would be: - Improvement of public education infrastructure (modernization and expansion of existing facilities, including more school rooms, air conditioned/heated rooms, new furniture, better sports facilities and arts/crafts rooms etc.) - Improvement of school food-programs, increase in budget for products and quality of offered food. - Wage increases - Modernization of school and university programs to reflect modern market demands. - Expansion of extra-curricular activities with emphasis in science and sports. - Acquisition of new fleet of school buses. - Scholarship programs - Specially selected carrers such as engineering and computer sciences (amogn others) would receive special incentives. |
