| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Navlakhi Naval Base is a critical strategic development situated along the Gulf of Kutch. As a critical forward-operating node in Gujarat, this base is designed to provide rapid response capabilities and logistical sustainment for the Indian Navy’s littoral and heavy surface fleet, securing the vital maritime corridors leading to the ports of Kandla and Mundra. Infrastructure The waterfront will be engineered to overcome the unique tidal challenges of the region, providing stable, high-capacity berthing for a diverse fleet. Three reinforced double-sided jetties, offering six primary berths. Using side-by-side double-banking, the base is capable of accommodating up to 12 docked vessels at a time. Due to the high siltation rates and extreme tidal range of the Gulf of Kutch, extensive capital dredging will be executed to maintain a deep-draft approach channel and a high-diameter turning basin, ensuring 24/7 navigation from the Arabian Sea regardless of low-tide constraints. Logistics To ensure fleet readiness, the base will function as a self-contained replenishment centre:
Command, Control, and Security The administrative and security heart of the base will be situated roughly 1 km inland to provide a protective buffer and operational oversight.
Personnel & Garrison Support The base will provide permanent stationing for 1,600 naval personnel.
