| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Nagoya Port Expansion Project will begin the process of expanding Nagoya's shipping capacity. This will be in terms of both physical space for shipping by building new docking areas but also through purchases of newer equipment to increase the speed at which a ship is loaded or unloaded. New warehouses will be constructed as well to store more goods that are to be sent for international trade. Newer electronic control systems will be put in place to largely automate the docking process and allow for more real-time knowledge, control, and accounting of shipping activities. This system will also allow for the harbormaster to ensure that the requisite percentage of ships are inspected and monitored for contraband as well as for proper payment of duties and fees. |
