PROJECT INFORMATION | The Ministry of Intelligence is the supreme intelligence entity of the Kingdom of Norway. It does officially exist, but why it exists is not precisely clear to the public. In the legislation that created the MoI, The Intelligence Act of 1995 (https://modernnations.com/threads/laws-of-norway.10036/#post-41434), states the following as the purposes of the Ministry: "A. The Ministry of Intelligence shall serve the purpose of training intelligence officers and investigative agents for itself and other official agencies in the Norwegian government. B. The Ministry of Intelligence shall serve the purpose of protecting the national security interests of the Kingdom of Norway. C. The Ministry of Intelligence may gather information and intelligence outside of Norway if necessary. D. The Ministry of Intelligence may gather information and intelligence within Norway only via legal means. E. The Ministry of Intelligence may assist other Norwegian agencies and police in gathering intelligence in Norway via legal means." While the public has described this as vague, it has also more importantly been described as "not very restrictive." That was done on purpose by the government. After the collapse of Kapital Tower and after the increased stability of the world since the start of 1995, public opinion has supported the creation of an intelligence service for the Kingdom of Norway. King-in-Council decided that, because there may be good reason to make several intelligence agencies now or in the future, it would be better to make an entire intelligence ministry and not just an individual agency under the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry of Intelligence exists, in reality, to train: 1. Secret agents (spies) to conduct espionage; 2. Special agents and agents who can: conduct counter-espionage, investigate special crimes, perform border protection and/or inspections, perform counter-terrorism, and conduct complex investigations; 3. Agents who are trained to protect the King, Royal Family, and visiting Royalty; 4. Agents who are trained to protect government officials and VIPs in Norway. The Ministry of Intelligence shall be located at a new building, located at Teatergata 9. The building is 11 stories tall (including a large lobby), has measures in place to ensure that the windows cannot be used to spy on those inside, has ample security to ensure that anyone cannot just walk in without authorization, and also has three basements available for use by the Ministry. The building has various cool and secret passageways throughout the building. (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/92/Rgjeringskvartalet_R6_seen_from_Teatergata.JPG) Teatergata 9 will also of course have the appropriate security and communications equipment installed inside, all of which is encrypted and secure. A portion of the building exists for training. Agents who are trained may also utilize various military bases and their equipment around Norway. |
