PROJECTPolish Rail Revitalization
PROJECT COST1,000,000,000.00
COMPLETION DATE24/06/2023
PROJECT INFORMATIONIn an effort to revitalize the aging Polish Rail Network for both passenger and good transportation, the Polish Government has assigned 1 billion dollars to bankroll a total overhaul over the network.

1. Will involve inspection of the 18,510km of rails, most of which dates back to World War II and limits the speed of trains to sub 160km/h. Parts and pieces that are in need of repair but not upgrading will be marked and repaired as needed. Parts and pieces that are in need of repair and upgrading will be marked as first in line to be upgraded. Parts and pieces that will need to be upgraded but not repaired will be marked and upgraded after the first phase of upgrades.

3. Will involve upgrading tracks that do not meet the new specification of the new 200km/h goal and are in need of repair. Once these parts have been upgraded and repaired, the phase will move to upgrading those rails that do not meet the new specification of the 200km/h goal. The final part of this phase will result in the repair of tracks that already meet the new specification of a 200km/h goal. The second phase will result in brand new tracks and ties for the entire 18,510km of rails going over the entirety of Poland.

3. Will involve going through and inspecting all equipment for rail stations and traffic crossings to ensure that each is functioning properly. Worn and outdated equipment will be replaced with newer electronics and crossings will be tested to ensure enough warning is given for the new 200km/h goal for the tracks. Ensuring the public’s safety is paramount to the Rail Network Revitalization process.

4. Will involve the inspection of bridges and crossings to ensure they are up to the new safety standards being put into place. This is to ensure there is no structural damage and the ability to handle increasingly higher weight and speed of the railcars and engines. Any bridge or crossing will be immediately repaired or, if unable to be repaired, torn down and built new under the new specifications.

The Revitalization will result in new tracks and equipment for the Rail Network. Increasing the ability for trains to haul both passengers and goods across the Kingdom at a more timely manner.
