PROJECT INFORMATION	The Healthy Korea North (HKN) program is a nationwide healthcare modernization initiative for the former DPRK territories. It aims to replace outdated hospitals, build modern clinics, and retrain medical staff to meet 21st-century medical standards. By improving healthcare access and quality, HKN will: reduce preventable deaths, combat infectious diseases, create a healthier, more productive workforce and showcase the tangible benefits of reunification. Objectives: Renovate 15 major hospitals in northern cities with modern equipment, labs, and surgical theaters Establish 3 new regional general hospitals (Hamhung, Chongjin, Sinuiju). Build/modernize 1,000+ rural clinics for universal primary care access. Each clinic staffed with at least 1 doctor, 2 nurses, and a sanitation officer. Retrain 25,000 northern doctors and nurses to meet Korean medical standards. Scholarships for North-born medical students to study in Seoul and abroad. Launch national vaccination campaigns (measles, TB, polio, hepatitis). Eradicate cholera and malaria outbreaks by 2015. Provide free or heavily subsidized healthcare for all northern citizens. Target: Infant mortality cut by 50% within 10 years
