| PROJECT INFORMATION | A modern emergency hospital with 500 beds, intensive care units, surgical theatres, and an oncology centre will be built in Ponta Delgada. It will address the shortage of specialized care in the Azores and reduce costly medical evacuations to mainland Portugal. The hospital will also house a biomedical research wing in partnership with local universities, promoting medical innovation and regional health resilience. It will also house a helicopter warehouse and helipad to better move between islands. |
