| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Main Intelligence Directorate, still commonly known as GRU, is the foreign military intelligence agency of the Russian Empire. GRU controls the military intelligence service and maintains its own special forces units (Spetsnaz GRU). The directorate is Russia's largest foreign intelligence agency and is distinguised among its counterparts for its willingness to execute riskier operations. As of 2000, GRU reports directly to the Russian monarch and its Director is hand-picked by the monarch. Its headquarters are located in north-western Moscow and is locked down with fences, gates, surveillance, and various other security measures. |
