| PROJECT INFORMATION | One of the buildings to be built in the Complex will be the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA; Korean: 질병관리청; Hanja: 疾病管理廳), formerly Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC, Korean: 질병관리본부) is an organisation under the South Korean Ministry of Welfare and Health that is responsible for organ transplant and advancement of public health by managing prevention, survey, quarantine, trial and research on infectious diseases, chronic and rare illnesses and injuries. It is to be located in Osong Health Technology Administration Complex in Cheongju. The organisation is led by vice-ministerial-level Commissioner of KDCA This project is to provide the basis for Korea's medical research and innovation, provide the foundation for disease research and prevention, and provide the basis for future cooperation with other countries in the areas of medical operations, professionalism, and exploration. The Republic of Korea will fund the KCDA and other entities that operate in the Osong Complex. The OHTA Complex will house medical students from partner universities of Korea Universities Infectious Disease and Virology Degrees, guests and visitors from other countries, and also provide space for medical technique innovation and medical equipment development. The OHTA will have biosafety level 4 capacity and will be able to house and research infectious and dangerous diseases. The Complex will be guarded and protected by the ROK Army and ROK NIS. With police and other law enforcement reviewing, screening, and investigating when all persons attempting to enter the facility. The facilities have the use for military projects, however, would require an extension and expansion to be able to conduct military research. At this stage, the facilities will be used completely for civilian and welfare purposes. This is for the purpose of future R&D efforts |
