PROJECT INFORMATION | ![]() Msalato (Dodoma) International Airport is a partially completed airport development 9 miles outside of Dodoma City Centre. Occupying a total 45 square kilometres, the airport consists of a three storied terminal building for departing and arriving passengers, with capability of 1,500,000 arrivals annually. One main runway measuring 3,600 metres (11,811 ft) long, and 60 metres (197 ft) wide with two taxiways, 2 parking aprons which can accommodate multiple A330 aircraft simultaneously. Also, arrival and departure gates, fencing, airport roads and car parking yards. Other operations infrastructure includes a control tower, radar equipment, a fire station and associated fire-fighting equipment, an aircraft fueling station, a water supply and distribution system, a dedicated electricity supply system and a meteorology station. Whilst the development is only built on 8km2 of the dedicated 45km2, the remaining 37km2 will allow for ease in future expansion in the rapidly growing capital. The airport will handle up to 1.5 million passengers and support 50,000 flight movements annually annually, becoming Tanzania’s second‑largest airport. This airport will replace the outdated Dodoma Airport, located in the heart of the city and unable to expand. Upon Completion, Dodoma Airport will be demolished and the site repurposed for future development. Jobs created: Direct: 1,500 Indirect: 750 Ripple: 2,500 |
