PROJECT INFORMATION | As the second year of the new millennium has arrived, the Thaksin administration has entered its 3rd calendar year in office. With over 15$ billion invested during its first two years, Thailand is now ready to develop into a more modern democratic state. The Metro System of Bangkok currently offers 135 stations and 210.25 kilometers of railway. With 1.3 million raiders, the number is nowhere near its limit, and it needs more comprehensive coverage to support the entire population of the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. The First Expansion includes the extension of the Purple Line for its Southern section with Heavy rail: Metro between Tao Poon ↔ Kru Nai, consisting of 17 stations and 23.6 kilometers of railway. There will be the establishment of 1. Orange Line Eastern section between Thailand Cultural Centre ↔ Yaek Romklao with 17 stations and 22.5 kilometers of railway (Heavy rail: Metro). 2. Yellow Line between Lat Phrao – Samrong with 23 stations and 30.4 kilometers of railway (Monorail). 3. Pink Line between Nonthaburi Civic Center ↔ Min Buri with 30 stations and 34.5 kilometers of railway (Monorail). 4. U-Tapao Airport ↔ Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link with 5 stations and 171.9 kilometers of the railway (Heavy rail: Commuter). 5. Don Mueang ↔ Krung Thep Aphiwat ↔ Phaya Thai Airport Rail Link with 1 station and 7.8 kilometers in railway (Heavy rail: Commuter). The First Expansion will construct 93 new stations and 290.7 kilometers of railway. The Second Expansion includes the extension of 3 existing Lines and the construction of 4 new Lines. 1. Sukhumvit Line (Heavy rail: Metro) between Khu Khot ↔ Eastern Outer Ring (4 stations and 6.5 kilometers) and Kheha ↔ Bang Pu (4 stations and 7 kilometers). 2. Silom Line (Heavy rail: Metro) between Bang Wa ↔ Taling Chan (6 stations and 7 kilometers) and National Stadium ↔ Yot Se (1 station and 1 kilometer). 3. Blue Line western extension (Heavy rail: Metro) between Lak Song ↔ Phutthamonthon Sai 4 (4 stations and 8 kilometers). 4. Orange Line western extension (Heavy rail: Metro) between Thailand Cultural Centre ↔ Bang Khun Non (12 stations and 17.5 kilometers). 5. Grey Line (Monorail) between Vatcharapol ↔ Rama 9 Bridge (21 stations and 26 kilometers). 6. Silver Line (Light Rail) between Bang Na ↔ Suvarnabhumi (14 stations and 24 kilometers). 7. Brown Line between Nonthaburi Civic Center↔Lam Sali (21 stations and 22 kilometers). The Second Expansion will construct 87 new stations and 119.5 kilometers of railway. The Third Expansion includes the extension of the SRT Dark Red Line (1) and SRT Light Red Line (2) (Heavy rail: Commuter). 1: Krung Thep Aphiwat ↔ Hua Lamphong (5 stations and 6.05 kilometers) (1) 2: Thammasat ↔ Rangsit (4 stations and 8.75 kilomters) (1) 3: Hua Lamphong ↔ Bang Bon (8 stations and 13.18 kilometers) (1) 4: Bang Bon ↔ Maha Chai (12 stations and 21 kilometers) (1) 5: Krung Thep Aphiwat ↔ Hua Mak (6 stations and 18.8 kilometers) (2) 6: Taling Chan ↔ Sala Ya Station (6 stations and 12.98 kilometers) (2) 7: Taling Chan ↔ Thonburi-Siriraj (5 stations and 5.38 kilometers) (2) The Third Expansion will construct 44 new stations and 86.14 kilometers of railway. The Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan in Bangkok Metropolitan Region will construct 224 new stations and 496.34 kilometers of railway. |
