| PROJECT INFORMATION | With the recent drop of tourism in the Rattanakosin Kingdom the government under the new Crown would push forth the Thai Tourism Initiative. With this initiative it would be the hope of the Rattanakosin Kingdom that the rate of tourism would not only return to its previous numbers but superseded it. It was no secret that the many various resorts of Thailand were among the biggest tourism destinations of Thailand and a large amount of the sums were placed towards building new government-owned resorts in key locations that would not only allow for more employment but would also allow tourists to enjoy new locations of the beautiful nation. The majority of these new resorts would be along the coast of the Andaman Sea (although they would avoid the location that was granted to the building of the new naval base), and along the long coastline of the Gulf of Thailand. However, in the hopes of making all of Thailand a tourist destination, many high-end resorts would be built in the mountainous regions of northern Thailand and near the cities of the more tropical destinations of north-eastern Thailand. All of the resorts would be closely linked to the planned high-speed rails and would make the transit of tourists easy and quick. The newly crowned Queen of the Rattanakosin Kingdom is a liberal and progressive one and unlike the various previous monarchs and Prime Ministers of the nation, Rama X understands that sex work is not only an acceptable occupation but one that is extremely popular in Thailand with some estimated thirty thousand sex workers in Bangkok alone and nearly a million throughout all of Thailand. Therefore the Crown has passed a new legislation that has legalized prostitution, however this legalization would remain only under government approved businesses. Such businesses include: brothels, soapy message establishments, massage parlors, and bars. (However it should be noted that not all of the listed establishments are sex work related). While brothels never existed before in Thailand, under this new initiative funds would be set aside to loan money to new business owners who wished to open one. Soapy massage establishments, akin to Japanese soaplands, typically provide either an oil massage, nude body massage, or a bath treatment which includes sexual services. In this type of establishment, clients can engage in sexual activity with prostitutes. Although Thailand is known for Thai massage (its non-sexual, traditional style of massage), some massage parlors provide customers erotic massage at additional cost including hand-jobs, oral sex, and sexual intercourse. Lastly, sex workers are employed by bars either as dancers (in the case of go-go bars) or simply as hostesses who will encourage customers to buy them drinks. In most of these establishments the prostitutes are directly employed, but in hotels, some bars and discos freelance prostitutes are allowed to solicit clients. Prostitutes will usually receive a commission when a customer buys drinks and sexual services can be arranged to take place on premises or elsewhere which benefits both the sex worker and the establishment. Drugs are another subject of the Thai Tourism Initiative and the legalization of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms was passed under the same legislation as the legalization of prostitution. Various government-funded farms will be opened across the nation for both mushrooms and marijuana, alongside bars, restaurants, resorts, and stores which will sell the marijuana and mushrooms either in its harvested form or mixed within drinks and food. However, the legal age for the use of these drugs will remain at 21. Harder drugs such as cocaine and heroin will remain illegal and tourists will be denied from bringing any drugs into the country either legal or illegal unless medical in reason. The last of the funds would be placed towards opening large malls and shopping centers and mixed-development centers within the biggest cities of Thailand. One of these centers would be known as SOOK Siam, an indoor floating market. Each of these locations would house the most modern and popular stores of the world and Thailand and would offer many jobs to the Thai people. The Thai Tourism Initiative overall would not only aid with the tourism rates of the country but would also raise employment, drop crime rates, and would hopefully make the Thai people overall more happy people. |
