| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Syria–Türkiye barrier will be a comprehensive border wall and fence system along the Syria–Türkiye border. The primary objective of this project will be to enhance border security, prevent illegal crossings, and combat smuggling activities that have become a serious challenge for the Turkish Government. Once completed, this barrier will be the third longest wall in the world, following the Great Wall of China and the American-Mexico border wall. Physical Details: Total Length: 911 km Base Element: 2 meters wide, 7-ton mobile concrete blocks Height: 3 meters of concrete topped with 1 meter of razor wire Security Infrastructure: The barrier's security measures will be multi-faceted, incorporating both physical barriers and advanced technological systems to ensure comprehensive surveillance and response capabilities. 1. Modular Concrete Walls These will provide a robust physical barrier against illegal crossings. 2. Security Patrol Routes Regular military patrols will ensure ongoing monitoring and quick response to any breach attempts. The necessary infrastrucutre to maintain patrols will be established. 3. Security Towers Manned and unmanned towers located at strategic points will enhance visual and electronic surveillance. 4. Passenger Tracks Designated routes will facilitate the controlled movement of authorized personnel and vehicles. Electronic Surveillance Systems: Close-up Surveillance Systems Thermal Cameras Land Surveillance Radar Remote-Controlled Weapons Systems Command-and-Control Centers Line-Length Imaging Systems Seismic Sensors Acoustic Sensors These systems will work in tandem to provide real-time data and ensure a swift response to any detected threats. Advanced Technology Layer: To address more sophisticated threats, the barrier will employ cutting-edge technologies, including: Wide Area Surveillance Laser Destructive Fiber-Optic Detection Surveillance Radar for Drone Detection Jammers to Disrupt Unauthorized Communications Short-Distance Movement-Sensitive Lighting Systems These advanced measures will be crucial for detecting and neutralizing potential breaches involving drones and other high-tech methods. Border Towers: The project will include the construction of 120 border towers in critical locations to further enhance surveillance and response capabilities. Project Rationale: Increase Border Security: The barrier will aim to prevent unauthorized crossings, thus securing the nation’s borders against illegal entry. The lack of border security exposes the Republic to multitude of threats. Combat Smuggling: By obstructing smuggling routes, the barrier will help reduce illegal trade and associated criminal activities. The poroous border situation has enabled Syrian crime syndicates to move large amounts of illegal contraband into Türkiye and towards the rest of Europe. Counter PKK Activities: The barrier will address the growing use of the Syrian border with Iraq by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) for infiltration and smuggling operations, thereby disrupting their activities and enhancing national security. The PKK's exploitation of the porous Syrian-Iraqi border poses a significant threat to national security. The barrier will serve as a crucial measure to counter these multifaceted threats, ensuring greater stability and security for Türkiye. |
