To: Darragh Connolly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, The Kingdom of Ireland Titusk

Your Excellency,

I extend my hand in friendship and propose the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between our two nations. The historical ties and shared values between Portugal and Ireland lay a strong foundation for a collaborative and fruitful partnership.

In light of the current global challenges, it is imperative that nations with shared interests and mutual respect work together to foster peace, stability, and prosperity. Portugal is currently at the forefront of sponsoring a resolution within the Global Assembly that aims to address the complex and pressing crisis in Syria. We believe that Ireland's support for this resolution would not only amplify its impact but also demonstrate our collective commitment to international peace and security. Your nation's endorsement would be a testament to the strength of our partnership and our shared dedication to humanitarian principles.

Furthermore, I am eager to propose a cooperation protocol that focuses on the Atlantic region, an area of strategic importance to both our nations. This protocol would serve as a framework for collaboration on critical issues such as maritime traffic management and the combating of drug trade. By pooling our resources and expertise, we can enhance the safety and security of the Atlantic region, ensuring the well-being of our citizens and the protection of our shared maritime interests.

In addition to these immediate concerns, Portugal is keen to engage in a dialogue with Ireland on the broader geopolitical landscape. Your insights and perspectives on the current state of affairs in Europe and the world are highly valued, and I am confident that our exchanges will be mutually enriching. This dialogue will not only deepen our understanding of each other's positions but also open new avenues for cooperation on a wide range of global issues.

I am genuinely excited about the potential for a strong and dynamic partnership between Portugal and Ireland. I am confident that, by working together, we can make significant strides in advancing our shared goals and contributing positively to the international community.

Thank you for considering this proposal. I look forward to your positive response and to the opportunity to work closely with you and your team. Please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions on how we can best move forward with these initiatives.

With warm regards and the highest consideration,

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Portugal

From: Darragh Connolly, Head Minister of the Office of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Ireland

Honorable Minister Luis Amado,

It is my great pleasure to respond to your message at the approval of His Majesty Cormac I. The Kingdom of Ireland welcomes your proposal with interest and respect. His Majesty has declared it the will of the Crown to renew and deepen diplomatic ties, especially with nations of Christian tradition and mutual dignity.
We agree to your offer of formal diplomatic relations and would be pleased to arrange an official meeting. With your permission, we propose to host this first exchange at the office of our Ambassador to Portugal, Cillian Barron, in Lisbon.
The matters you raised—the resolution on Syria, Atlantic cooperation, and the wider geopolitical picture—are of great interest to us. We are currently preparing our own proposals concerning multilateral cooperation in the Global Assembly, and would welcome Portuguese input and partnership in shaping their direction.

In the name of Christ and His Majesty King Cormac I of the Kingdom of Ireland, I look forward to your reply and the beginning of a strong and fruitful relationship

The morning sun cast a gentle light over the historic streets of Lisbon as the motorcade of the Secretary of State for the Minister Foreign Affairs of Portugal navigated through the city. The destination was the distinguished office of the Irish Ambassador to Portugal, Cillian Barron, situated in one of Lisbon's most esteemed diplomatic districts.

As the motorcade came to a halt, the Secretary of State, Carlos Silva, accompanied by a small delegation of senior advisors, stepped out of the vehicle. The Irish flag fluttered gracefully beside the Portuguese flag at the entrance, symbolizing the new chapter in diplomatic relations between the two nations. He would wait to the ushered inside.

As the Secretary of State stood outside the embassy gates, the Irish flag catching the morning wind beside Portugal’s own, the door opened quietly. Ambassador Cillian Barron stepped forward to greet him. A soft bow of the head was exchanged—no fanfare, no press, just the dignity of two nations beginning anew.
“Your Excellency,” Ambassador Barron began, “Minister Connolly has sent me your most recent reply. He received it with great warmth and has asked me to express his gratitude personally. I’ve been instructed to begin talks immediately, without delay.”
Inside, the reception room had been prepared with care. The national symbols of both states were placed behind the meeting table, and on a small sideboard, black tea and Portuguese custard tarts had been arranged as a quiet gesture of respect.
Once seated, Ambassador Barron continued. “Ireland is ready to support Portugal’s initiatives in Syria and in the Atlantic. We are willing to align with your efforts in the Global Assembly, provided that this spirit of support flows both ways. His Majesty views this not as a temporary coordination but as the first step in a deeper alliance between sovereign Catholic nations. We are prepared to listen, to collaborate, and to act.”
The Irish delegation waited, composed and ready. The tone was respectful, but firm. Ireland had opened its hand—now it watched to see how Portugal would meet it

The Secretary of State of the Minister of Foreign Affairs extended warm greetings to Ambassador Barron, expressing his gratitude for the prompt meeting. "I thank you for meeting with us so urgently. It is always a pleasure to engage in dialogue with friendly nations such as Ireland," he remarked with a sincere smile.

As they stepped into the elegantly appointed meeting room and took their seats, the Secretary of State helped himself to one of the delightful tarts and took a sip of tea, appreciating the thoughtful hospitality. The room was adorned with subtle touches of both Portuguese and Irish culture, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration.

"We are very pleased that Ireland is ready to support us in the Global Assembly, alongside the Atlantic Protocol," the Secretary began, his tone reflecting genuine enthusiasm. "Rest assured, we never view these types of relationships as merely temporary. We see them as laying the groundwork for a lasting and meaningful partnership."

He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts before continuing. "Firstly, I believe it is crucial to address the Syrian crisis. Innocent lives are being lost every day, children are going hungry, and the very fabric of civilization is unraveling with warlords and chieftains emerging from every corner of the land. This resolution we propose will provide the Global Assembly with a mandate to intervene, put a stop to the civil war, and establish a democratic and independent regime. Our goal is to prepare the ground for fair elections and ensure that the Kurdish people have a place to call home, whether as an autonomous region within Syria or through other means that respect their rights and aspirations."

The Secretary took a moment to finish the last bite of his tart, savoring the flavors before setting his cup of tea down gently. "Regarding the Atlantic Protocol, this initiative broadly means that Ireland and Portugal will support each other on matters involving anti-piracy operations, combating drug and human trafficking, and countering terrorism. By providing each other with intelligence and military support, we can enhance our collective security and ensure a safer and more stable Atlantic region."

He leaned slightly forward, emphasizing the importance of their collaboration. "This protocol is not just about addressing immediate threats; it is about building a framework for long-term cooperation and mutual assistance. Together, we can set a precedent for international collaboration and demonstrate the strength of our united efforts."

The Secretary of State concluded with a hopeful smile. Titusk
