Across the bridge, Moldovan border guards could see a bustling unit of Romanian infantry, holding banners aloft. They were setting up on the other side of the Prut, replacing the border guards there. By their best estimates, there were over 1,000 infantry drilling and milling about in a camp set up just a few hundred feet from the border.

The First Foot Regiments 2nd Battalion would be deployed to the Eiffel bridge. They were deployed to survey the Moldovan riverbank and their military presence there. They will hold that position. They are ordered not to engage under any circumstances.

The First Foot Regiments First Engineer Battalion and Third Battalion will begin establishing a presence across the Prut from the Moldovan city of Cahul. The engineer battalion will begin constructing a ready-to-deploy pontoon bridge on the shore.

The First Foot Regiments 2nd Engineer Battalion, as well as the 4th and 1st battalion, will begin establishing a camp across the Prut from Cobain. The engineers will begin constructing a pontoon bridge on the shore.

The Moldovans begin to spot the movement of these Romanian troops one by one, but they cannot quite determine their numbers.

Across the bridge, The Moldovans could now see artillery pieces being pulled up, as well as armored vehicles. Recently more and more helicopters have been spotted flying along the border. The point is reinforcing.

The 40 Guns of the First AT Artillery Battalion are set up beside the infantry in static positions, pointing across the river from behind very basic earthworks. They are crewed as usual with ammunition stacked up in a small makeshift depot behind them. The newly acquired MiG-25RBSh will begin flying recon missions over Moldova in an attempt to locate any military bases or airfields. They will be marked on a map. The 10 newly acquired FMA IA-58A Pucaras will be ready for deployment on a small airfield just outside of Iași, armed with maps of any located military positions.
The IAR 330Ls will patrol the ten-mile strip of land around the bridge, not crossing the border. They will be loaded up with men from the First Mechanized Regiment. The First Mechanized Regiment, lacking their transport, will be positioned in the city of Iași as reserve troopers. The recently acquired QRF battalion will be positioned in the city as well. All military forces are on high alert.

There were many Moldovan Border Police located near the border of the Eiffel Bridge and even more alongside the Prut River. In fact, following the public statements of the Romanian dictator both in-person and on Twitter (yes, even a nation such as Moldova has access to the internet), the President of Moldova had ordered that the majority of the border police be taken from the Ukrainian border and sent alongside the Romanian border. The border police continued to watch the Romanians with extreme caution and assumed various roles of reconnaissance - as the Romanians did not attempt to make their actions across the river secret or hidden from those on the other side, the Moldovans would be able to determine that there was roughly a division's worth of Romanians across the Prut River of the Eiffel Bridge.

Using an encrypted line, the commander of the border police stationed near Eiffel Bridge would contact the Moldovan President and inform him of the current situation.

Following the phone call with the border police's commander, President of Moldova would signal that all of the Moldovan Armed Forces be kept on high alert; the reserves preparing for war and the regular troops moving in on the Romanian border. The 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade "Moldova" would move from Bălți to Sculeni, Ungheni District, Moldova. The 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade "Stefan Cel Mare" would move from the Moldovan capital to meet with the Romanian Armed Forces at the Eiffel Bridge. Lastly, the 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade "Dacia" would remain at their position in Cahul. The Artillery Division would move from the Moldovan capital and follow the 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade to their destination. All of this would be done in the upmost secrecy.

The Moldovan Air Force would be given similar orders, the MiG-29 multi-role fighters of the Mărculești Air Force Base would be equipped with 4 R-73 Air-to-Air missiles and 3 S-24 rockets each. The other squadrons of helicopters and transport planes would also be readied for the event of war. The two missile batteries of the air force would be loaded up and matched up with the P-19 Radars of the air base, preparing to combat against any aircraft that Romania may through at them. All of this would also be done in the upmost secrecy.

By the time that the Moldovan armed forces were prepared for war, the Romanian MiG-25RBSh recon aircraft would be discovered by the P-19 radars from just 260kms away. As the aircraft's altitude nor speed was specified, it would be assumed that it was flying at the minimal: 1,000 feet over the ground and a speed of 200 km/h. With the radars tracking the aircraft, the air force would send out a total of six MiG-29 multi-role fighters (armed with the previously stated weapons) to counter it. The MiG-29s would fly at an altitude of 1,100 feet and keep a speed of 200km/h. It would take the MiG-29s less than an hour to finally spot the MiG-25RBSh, performing some basic manuvers, the MiG-29s would position themselves in a V-formation behind the Romanian plane and would attempt to make direct contact.

"This is Flight A of the Moldovan Air Force - I am instructed by the President himself that you must divert your current course and return to Romanian airspace immediately. Divert immediately or you will be fired upon." All the meanwhile, each of the MiG-29s would lock-on their air-to-air missiles onto the MiG-25RBSh.

All around the Eiffel Bridge Romanian war songs would start up, the combined voices resonating across the river. Weapons were loaded and every man was put on standby. Helicopters refueled and prepared for takeoff. Pilots strapped in.

The MiG-25RBSh would steal away at 2,600kmp and begin climbing to 24,000 Meters. It would begin turning back towards Romania. All 10 Pucaras would take off, and begin circling the estimated destination of the MiG-25RBSh in Romania. According to the Recon planes information the entirety of the First Mechanized Division would move across from Sculeni, prepared to face its imminent threat. Soldiers would scramble all around. They had not prepared for this sort of resistance.

The Flight A of the six MiG-29s had been fully locked-on to the Romanian MiG-25RBSh for some time now and had attempted to make contact with the plane. However, the lack of response or even acknowledgement from the MiG-25RBSh on the Moldovan demands proved worrisome and the plane beginning to pick up on its speed and altitude were seen by the Flight A as nothing more than the Romanians avoiding Moldovan demands and attempting to escape from the MiG-29s. Therefore, as the MiG-25RBSh picked up on its altitude, the commander of the Flight A ordered:

"Flight A, contact has failed - orders ignored. Fire at will!"

With the firing order given, each of the MiG-29s fired a single of their R-73A air-to-air missiles, a total of six. With a range of 30km and a speed of 3000 km/h, the missiles would easily keep up with the MiG-25RBSh's attempts at escape. As it was not mentioned that the MiG-25RBSh used maneuvers to escape from the MiG-29s, it would be assumed that the MiG-25RBSh flew with a normal flight path and therefore, while not all of the missiles would hit, it would be realistic that at least half of the missiles would hit their target - completely destroying the MiG-25RBSh during flight, its debris falling down to the ground of Moldovan territory.

The commander of Flight A would radio in to Mărculești Air Force Base. "Flight A reporting: unauthorized Romanian MiG-25 spotted in flight towards the air base. Ignored orders and attempted to escape - shot to kill, no survivors. Debris over Balti. Over."

The Air Base would reply. "Copy that, Flight A. Return to base for debriefing, we'll send some people to investigate the debris. Over." While the MiG-29s would fly back to Mărculești Air Force Base and safely touch back down and enter their respected hangars, Unit 1001 of the Trupele de Carabinieri would be sent to the city of Balti to secure the area of the plane crash and recover the debris. Alongside this they would be tasked in aiding the local emergency response teams in the case of injuries.

Back on the Prut River. The Moldovan ground forces would have finally arrived to their respective locations.

The 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade "Stefan Cel Mare" would have arrived from the Moldovan capital to the city of Ungheni. The city would have been evacuated, all of its citizens moving northern and eastern into the country in the fear of a possible war breaking out between Moldova and Romania. The Mechanized and Motorized Infantry of the Brigade would remain within the city and would fortify the Ungheni Patria train station into their forward base of operations. The mechanized infantry and their vehicles would remain on the southern end of the Eiffel Bridge and its rails, assuring that the roads would make for better maneuverability while the motorized infantry were further behind on the Stefan Cel Mare Street (on the bridge overlooking the rails) and 392 of the light infantry were in the woodlands north of the bridge and its rails. All of the troops and their equipment were prepared for the possibility of the Romanians attempting to either cross the bridge or attempt to cross the river. In the meantime, in the events that the Romanians attempted to bombard the troops and not cross over, the ten D-20s of the artillery company would be stationed behind the mechanized infantry, their trajectories aimed towards the Romanian formations on the opposite side of the river. The anti-tank howitzers would be stationed at the train station, their usefulness not needed at the moment. The Armored Company and the 21 T-62 tanks would remain near the train station and await an emergency before moving towards the conflict. And lastly, 4 of the BTR-Ds armed with anti-air cannons would be stationed near the D-20s, the other 4 being stationed at the city's train station. Lastly, the remaining light infantry would have been divided as the following: 392 troops with 21 ZIL-131 trucks in Sculeni, Medeleni, Valea Mare, Măcărești, and Bărboieni - assuring a strong stance on the Prut River against Romanian aggression.

The Artillery Division would have also reached the city of Ungheni and would begin setting up their equipment. Its self-propelled section and its 9 2S9 Nona self-propelled mortars would position themselves on the hill of the Palatul Culturii, the city's cultural center, allowing for easier accuracy and range onto Romanian targets. Alongside the self-propelled section would be one of the rocket sections and their 11 BM-27 Uragan MLRS would position themselves alongside the 2S9s. Beside them would be 4 of the S-125 SAM Systems of the anti-air section, the other 4 being located at the train station alongside the 14 BM-21 Grad MLRS.

The 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade "Moldova" would have arrived from Bălți to the city of Sculeni. There they would have evacuated the city and fortify the city's church as a forward base of operations. All of the infantry companies would be stationed alongside the river, assuring that they stuck to the roads and avoid firing first. The artillery and air defense would remain deeper in the city, assuring range over the river and that the sky remained clear. The 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade "Dacia" would have remained in their garrison city of Cahul and made all preparations for war. The infantry companies would have prepared their equipment, alongside the artillery for an offensive advancement into Romania while the air defense would assure the city's sky remain clear. The city would also be evacuated.

Each of the infantry companies would be equipped with: TT pistols, AK-74 assault rifles, PK and RPK machine guns, Dragunov SVD sniper rifles, GP-25 grenade launchers, RPG-7s, and various types of hand grenades.

All of the troops would await either their President's orders to advance or for the Romanians to fire the first shot.

The River Monitor "Elan" will be laid down in Galati and will begin making its way up to Cahul. Its guns will be welcome support for the men there.

Behind Chirita Lake, a very important lake in the local area, the First and Second Howitzers, as well as the First Rocket Artillery will set up. Being roughly seven miles from the bridge, all of the artillery would be able to fire into anywhere within Ungheni. Directed over radio communications by the Anti-Tank artillery crews spotters, they would begin loading their guns.

The Second Battalion of the First Foot Regiment would now fall back from the Eiffel Bridge, to the outskirts of Ungheni. There they would once again begin entrenching themselves and establishing some of the now vacant homes as small fortresses. The Anti Tank guns would be placed along the larger main streets and on any raised position. The local church, selected as the unit's command center, was bustling with ranking officers. the Tower had been occupied by two sharpshooters and several more artillery spotters.

The men on the ground were setting up their mortars, aiming them down the streets. Recoiless armor-piercing guns were set up in windows, and anti-tank blast mines set out along the major roads and in back yards or empty lots- any position that enemy armor might try to take. while all these precautions are put into place one company- the best trained and longest-serving of the battalion- will remain armed to the teeth at the end of the bridge until everything is in place before falling back with them. Aircraft and Helicopters are fueled and armed and everyone is put on standby. Every man on the Prut was on edge and waiting.

Upon the confirmation of the declaration of war, the 1st and 2nd Companies of the Battalion would prepared themselves for war and made their way from the capital to Mărculești Air Force Base where the 1st Transport Squadron would be awaiting them fully fueled and crewed.

At the Prut River
The troops stationed at the Eiffel Bridge would notice the Romanian beginning to retreat from the river to the city of Iasi. However, as the Romanians lacked any trucks, they would be forced to leave behind their forty A407 100mm Anti-Tank guns. The moment that the retreat of the Romanians was known to the Moldovans, orders were given to the Artillery Division to begin firing away on their positions. The 9 2S9 Nona 120mm Self-Propelled Mortars, which have a range of 8.8km, would begin firing down on the Romanians on the other side of the river using laser-guided KM-8 Gran projectiles. Following suit, the BM-27 Uragans would lower their stabilizing jacks and their blast shield would be raised to protect the cab and its occupants. Aiming with the use of their PG-1 panoramic telescope. The MLRS having a range of 35km would begin firing down upon the Romanians, using rockets equipped with explosive warheads and electric timing fuses. A total of 176 rockets would be fired within a window of 20 seconds and would be reloaded and re-fired as much as possible. Lastly, the Moldovan artillery of 10 D-20 152mm Howitzer would use rocket-assisted projectiles and fire down on the Romanian positions up to a range of 24km.

As the Romanians were not equipped with vehicles and were therefore travelling on foot, it would be assumed that the Romanians would be decimated before they could even reach the city of Iasi. Regardless, the Moldovans would hold their positions and resupply and refuel their personnel and vehicles before privately contacting the Moldovan Air Force for air support and reconnaissance.

At the City of Cahul
The 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade “Dacia” and the 2nd Reserve Division had secured their position in the city of Cahul. However, as the Reserve Mechanized and First Motorized Infantry of the 2nd Reserve Division would begin moving via the roads from Cahul to the Romanian border near the settlement of Oancea they would notice the Romanian First Engineer Battalion and Third Battalion alongside the Prut River. The Moldovan Mechanized Infantry would remain in Vama Cahul, the border crossing station on the Moldovan side of the border whilst the Motorized Infantry would leave their vehicles behind and enter into the woods alongside the river and would remain hidden with their personnel equipment and await the next move of the Romanians.

Meanwhile, the 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade “Dacia” would use the R34 from Cahul to the Romanian border at Giurgiulești and would resupply and refuel there before crossing the bridge and entering the Romanian city of Galați. As it was not stated that there were any troops within this city defending it, the Moldovans would secure it without opposition.

At the Town of Sculeni
The 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade “Moldova” would begin formations and would use the bridge over the Prut to go from Sculeni, Moldova to Sculeni, Romania. Following this the Brigade would use the E58 to go from Sculeni to the two settlements of Vultiri and Vanatori north of Iasi. As neither of these settlements were stated as being defended, the Moldovans would take them with ease.

As for the Motorized Company of the 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade “Stefan Cel Mare” stationed in Sculeni, it would be their task to travel to and from Sculeni and Vultiri to assure that the roads are clear for supplies.

It had now been three days since the Romanian IAR-330 helicopters had taken to the air and as stated in Post #02 these helicopters were filled with troops and therefore it would be assumed that they would be filled to the maximum of 16 troops and 3 crew. However, as they have now been in the air for nearly 72 hours without having refueled nor resupplied or even touched down, it would be assumed that the helicopters have now run out of fuel and have crashed alongside the river and the Eiffel Bridge, perhaps even on Romanian troops.

Being contacted by the 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade, the air force would prepare the 2nd Fighter Squadron and equip each of the MiG-29s of Flight B with 2 R-73 air-to-air missiles and 4 S-8BM runway destroying rockets and each of the MiG-29s of Flight A with 2 R-73 air-to-air missiles and 3 S-24 rockets. The squadron would be divided into two flights; Flight A with 8 MiG-29s and Flight B with 7 MiG-29s. They would depart from the air base in a safe manner and would keep the altitude of 1,500km and a speed of 800km/h.

Flying from the air base, the two flights would reach the Eiffel Bridge within fifteen minutes and the city of Iasi very shortly thereafter. Once they had passed the Eiffel Bridge the MiG-29s would drop to an altitude of 1,000 km and a speed of 300km/h and they would remain like that unless obstructions laid in their path in which case they would raise their altitudes and speeds to account for and avoid them.

The main mission of the MiG-29s was reconnaissance and to attempt to determine where the Romanian Air Force was currently stationed, the best option alongside the border was the Iasi International Airport, being public knowledge as it was an international airport. However, as they came upon the airport, they would notice extreme movement below them near Chirita Lake and thus the two flights would split up. Flight B would continue making their way to Iasi International Airport and Flight A would investigate the movement below them.

While Flight B would not be able to determine whether or not there were military aircraft in the Iasi International Airport, they would decide it best to destroy the runway nonetheless. After the green light, the MiG-29s would descend to an altitude of 500 km and align themselves alongside the Iasi airstrip before dropping their S-8BM rockets one at a time from one end of the runway to the other. By the time the 7 MiG-29s were finished, there was nothing left of the runway but enormous amounts of debris. With that, unless there was some sort of Romanian retaliation, Flight B would return to Moldova and their air base, returning to an altitude of 1,500km and a speed of 800km/h. Once they had reached their destination, they would touch down and refuel and resupply.

Meanwhile, Flight A would descend to an altitude of 500km (unless there were obstructions in which case they would keep their previous altitude) and slow to a speed of 200km/h. From there they were now above the lake and approaching the location where the First and Second Howitzers had set up their equipment. While they would not be able to determine what these vehicles were, they determined that they were at the very least military oriented and would wait to be directly above the vehicles before dropping all of their S-24 rockets onto them. With that, unless there was some sort of Romanian retaliation, Flight A would return to Moldova and their air base, returning to an altitude of 1,500km and a speed of 800km/h. Once they had reached their destination, they would touch does and refuel and resupply.

As there is no detailed complement of the IAR-330 and/or it's weaponry it is presumed to be unarmed and of maximum capacity. However, I concur that as detailed in (1a) that this is an example of nitpicking; on the basis that this aircraft has not been involved in active combat at this stage and has only been performing a passive role. I must stress, however, in the interests of transparency you should detail when equipment is being refuelled and/or returning to base, should this aircraft have been actively involved in PvP I would have ruled to the contrary.​

Romania has no active structure at present and I cannot see anywhere (including structure in your subforum), prior to Moldova's decision to bombard the runway, where Romanian aircraft has made use of Iasi International Airport thus I cannot rule this being metagaming. Whilst I agree the bombing of Iasi International Airport was an extreme measure, it was inside the governance of the rules.​

Whilst the Moldovan post stating that the Romanian 'Second Battalion' were retreating to Iasi was incorrect, this has no bearing on the use of artillery equipment which was fired upon the position of Romanian troops and not that of Iasi. On this basis, I am ruling that there is a total loss of 400 active personnel and mass destruction to the town of Ungheni, Moldova, where the personnel were currently positioned. The town has a population of approximately 31,000 civilians.​

Dropping of the Moldovan S-24 rockets onto the current position of the Romanian First and Second Howitzers position was done so "directly above" the vehicles whilst the aircraft was at a speed of 200km/h. The S-24 is a rocket rather than a conventional bomb used in the kind of precision bombing this post alludes to, as a result the rockets miss the position of the Romanian deployment by some margin resulting in no loss of life or damage to equipment.​

On the basis that all posts following Post #9 have been disputed by both parties and that it is canon from a void post, the roleplay will continue from Post #8 (all posts after which are void and will be soft-deleted), once the requirements of the first post are for filed with the requirements detailed in Modern Nations Ruleset: Military and Intelligence (1) and list the above stated losses as a result of my staff decision. I will not be unlocking this thread until the first post is amended. My decision is final and there is no room for negotiation from either party, should there be any further problems they should be posted as a Support Ticket immediately and you should not continue roleplaying as it makes it extremely difficult to manage the follow-on.

There are an extensive number of rule violations in relation to this thread and if it continues on the same trajectory you will see the operation void all together. I recommend all parties ensure they comply with the rules, roleplay in a respectable, realistic and fair manner. Please remember that whilst we are passionate with our roleplay on the forum, this is a game. Do not take the actions of the belligerents to heart and keep it in-character.

All 6 of the Cosar class minelaying vessels will be deployed from Constanta and begin mining The coastal waters of Romania. They are ordered to cover main channels and advise all shipping vessels to steer clear or to pass through a narrow corridor of mine free waters. The mines are laid thick all across the waters. Both Maresesti class frigates are dispatched as escorts, both also utilizing their mine-laying capabilities. All five River Monitor vessels will move upstream of Galati, weighing anchor near Leova on the shore, next to a heavily wooded area. They will camouflage their ships with bushes and brush, having it blend into the shore. The crews make contact with a local militia group formed with the newly distributed weapons, using them to acquire weapons and supplies.
