783 charges brought against former SA President Jacob Zuma

PRETORIA - The hugely unpopular former president is under fire by the Economic Freedom Fighters and the High Court.

Jacob Zuma, who was ousted from the presidency by EFF candidate, was brought before the High Court on 29 May 2013 to face a large number of charges ranging from corruption to money laundering, fraud, and racketeering. This, after he was found guilty last week of violating the constitution of South Africa, prompting his removal from office and subsequent replacement by current President Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

Zuma, who has had a long history with the African National Congress, continues to enjoy the support of his party despite the charges brought against him. "We have the utmost faith in the rule of law and trust that whatever the ruling shall be that Jacob Zuma will do the right thing," says ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe. The ANC, which has dominated South African politics since the end of the Apartheid era, has come under intense scrutiny in the last few years, facing accusations of corruption from both the EFF and Democratic Alliance.

"Justice will prevail," says President Ndlozi, "I trust that the court will find that the evidence against Zuma is undeniable."

Zuma: Fugitive from justice?
PRETORIA - Jacob Zuma, who was indicted on over 700 corruption charges is on the run.

"He's gone," says National Police Commissioner Khehla John Sitole, "Our officers arrived at Zuma's private residence in Nkandla to bring him in after he failed to appear for his bail hearing. We searched the premises and could not locate Mr. Zuma." After interrogating Zuma's wives, South African Police say they suspect Zuma has fled the country but they do not know where he is currently located.

Zuma, whose private residence was upgraded during his term using 200,000,000 rands' worth of taxpayer money, appears to have fled the country to avoid facing trial. "We have the utmost faith that Jacob Zuma will turn himself in to the proper authorities," says ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe, "It is only a matter of time."

Zuma flees to Eswatini
PRETORIA - Internal investigations show Jacob Zuma fled north to neighboring Eswatini to escape the country.

"We are deeply ashamed," says Major Michael Maimane, who is in command of the reserve force responsible for patrolling the border, "After launching an internal investigation we found evidence that Jacob Zuma fled the country on our watch. Soldiers under my command received bribes from Zuma," he says, looking down at his golden Rolls-Royce, "I can assure you that those responsible have been court-martialed and appropriately punished."

South Africa has asked that authorities in Swaziland assist them in tracking down Zuma and bring him to justice, "This is a matter of morals," says President Ndlozi, "Eswatini should assist however it can so that we can bring this criminal to justice." The High Court convened with Zuma's lawyer present to bring forward 8 counts of bribery on top of the already staggering number of charges brought against the former president.
