RUSSIAN FEDERATION
Dear National Capital Authority,
I am writing to propose consideration of a new site for the Embassy of the Russian Federation within Canberra’s diplomatic precinct.
The proposed location is the corner of Forster Crescent and Flynn Drive in Yarralumla. Given Yarralumla’s long standing role as Canberra’s principal diplomatic district, this location may offer an appropriate and strategically planned setting for future embassy development, subject to planning, security, environmental, and community considerations.
I note that this matter had previously been relayed during an earlier previous correspondence with the administration through emails involving the Australian Ambassador in Moscow, and I believe the proposal warrants renewed consideration within the appropriate planning framework.
This proposal is intended to support orderly diplomatic infrastructure planning within the National Capital and to encourage assessment of the site’s suitability in accordance with the National Capital Plan and relevant Commonwealth planning requirements.
I would appreciate the Authority’s consideration of this proposal and any information regarding the feasibility, planning status, or applicable processes associated with diplomatic land use at this location.

Kind Regards,
Sergey Lavrov
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Russian Federation
