1 Sejongno

Jongno-gu

Seoul, Kingdom of Korea

Dear Ambassador to the Kingdom of Korea,

Greetings! It has been without a doubt that the Republic of Argentina has become one of the most important countries in South America, if not the globe. It is obvious and necessary for Korea to show that she hopes to continue to foster a relationship with her sister-nation in South America. King Ryu Min-Ki wishes to extend an invitation to you and your family for dinner with his family to the Blue House, Thursday evening, where you may enjoy the hospitality of the Korean Royal Family. We believe that it is high time that the King, the Queen, and the Princess show their face to the world for the first time since the coronation. It will be a private and intimate affair, and if you choose to attend, formal wear is not required.

Sincerely,
Jeong Kyeong-Doo
Chief of Staff of the Royal Family

Chief of Staff Kyeong-Doo,
We apologize for the delayed reply. It is a pleasure and an honor receiving your invitation.

Having an important korean community living in Argentina, and considering Korea an important global actor, we highly value this bilateral relation and wish to cultivate it.

I accept your invitation.

Sincerely yours,

Rolando Zarate

The next two days passed with a flurry, as the staff at the Blue House prepared for the arrival of Ambassador Zarate and his family that Thursday evening. Among them would be a heavy change in decor. Due to the abundance of Asian influences in the architecture and design of the main rooms, a quick re-modeling would be done. With the assistance of Professor Min Kyung-Jae, a professor in Latin American Studies at Seoul National University, the front foyer of the Blue House, as well as the main dining room, would be redone in a Rioplatense-style, which is a style heavily appreciated in Buenos Aires.

Meanwhile, the Blue House Royal Police would assemble a team of security officers, totaling forty, to pick up the Ambassador and his family at his residence. Designated as the lead agent, the one who would initiate contact with the Ambassador and serve as his guide, would be twenty eight year old Inspector So Won-Sook. As the only security officer to have a decent grasp of Spanish, having spent her youth studying in Uruguay, she would be tasked with staying with the Ambassador at all costs and become his personal bodyguard during his stay at the Blue House. In addition to these language skills, Won-Sook, as with the other officers, would be rather proficient in Taekwondo and the top-tier firearms training that is common among the Blue House Royal Police.

So, it begins. At exactly 1730, the Blue House Royal Police would depart towards the Ambassador's residence in an arrow convoy, with three cars positioned in an arrow, two cars following in a straight line, and three cars positioned exactly opposite of the first formation in a reverse arrow. The Ambassador would be placed in the first car in the middle formation, with his family (should he have any), being in the second car. The other two formations are to protect him and his family should anything happen, blockading them from anything such as trained gunmen or a drunk driver.

Right on schedule, the convoy would arrive at the Ambassador's residence. The first formation would depart from the convoy, with one vehicle blocking the top of the street and the other two strategically placing themselves to block off anyone attempting to get to the ambassador. The third formation would follow suit, doing the same manuever in reverse at the bottom of the street. However, the middle formation would park directly on the curb. As soon as the wheels stopped, Inspector So would exit her vehicle and march up to the Argentinian Security Officer at the front door.

"Buenos noches," She said, wincing at her rather terrible accent and somewhat okay Spanish. "Yo soy Inspector So de la Policia Royale. Nosotros estamos aqui para Senor Zarate."

The ambassador would have privately informed the Ministry in Buenos Aires of the invitation and received instructions on how to act. South Korea was of strategic interest for the argentine foreign policy in Asia and therefore fostering the bilateral relation was a priotity. He ambassador was given precise instructions on political and commercial level.

The Ambassador and his wife would dress accordingly for such an important event and await the announced pick-up ready in the living room of the argentine residency in Seoul. As soon as ti arrive, they would leave the residency and meet the assigned police officer.

"Hola, Inspector So. Thank you for the pick-up. We are ready to go."

"Excellent. Allow me to escort you to your car," Inspector So said brightly, guiding the Ambassador and his wife to the first SUV. Her alert eyes scanned up and down the street until she made eye contact with her Deputy Inspector, the assigned Second-in-Command of the security detail. She mutely nodded, affirming to the rest of the detail that the immediate proximity of the official they were protecting, her sole responsibility, was secure. By nodding, she was beginning the HOTEL process. Check in. The Deputy Inspector, whose flesh-colored earpiece was squawking with radio chatter from up and down the street nodded back, affirming that the street so far was safe. Check out. As soon as the Ambassador slid inside the vehicle, Inspector So quickly shut the door and stepped into the passenger seat. Bags secured.

"Geugeol balb-a la," She ordered in Hangul. The driver put the car into gear and immediately pulled back onto the road, following the first formation of cars, with the third formation following closely behind. From the sky, it would look as if a thin black line was snaking back and forth through Seoul's Government District, which was actually a quite common sight. As soon as the convoy of cars reached the main highway, it'd be locked on by lookouts, two Royal Police Officers armed with Designated Marksmen Rifles. These two-man lookout teams were placed on every city block lining the route to the Blue House. Their purpose was to provide a physical overwatch presence for the convoy, due to the lack of helicopters. Should any incident happen, the lookout teams would be able to support the convoy by providing rifle support as well as outlining threats and coordinating a proper response by communicating with Inspector So by radio.

Fortunately, they were not needed. The blaring red-and-blue police lights of the lead formation in the convoy were enough to deter Seoul evening traffic and the roads were clear from cars giving right-of-way to the burly Police vehicles. It almost seemed as if the ride were merely thirty seconds before the Reception Center of the Blue House beared itself on the convoy. Immediately out front, the Royal Family awaited, with King Ryu Min-Ki flanked by his wife Ha-eun and their daughter, Princess Ji-Woo. Their son, Prince Ryu Min-Ki, was no where to be seen.

As soon as the convoy pulled up to the front, the Inspector So would open her door and slam it shut; in turn, she would open the Ambassador's door, allowing for him to meet the King.

"Good evening," King Ryu said, speaking in a common tongue that they both understood very well, English. "Welcome to the Blue House, Rolando. I am so very happy that you could make it."

The argentine ambassador would descend from the black SUV, followed by his wife, he would give a wuick glance to Inspector So in a clear sign of gratitue for the very efficient security service given and then head up to the King.

With a polite bow, Zarate and his wife would greet the ruler of Korea.

"Your highness, it is an honor to visit you. On behalf of the Republic of Argentina and its Government, I extend you our sincerest good wishes. This is my wife Solange." The black-haired and pale skinned woman would nod while greeting politely.
