In major towns and cities across Spain, the government has seen the need to deploy specially trained armed officers with the recent terror attacks in Russia, Nigeria and the United States. The Civil Guard and National Police Corps has coordinated a massive response and around 4,500 armed officers have been deployed across towns and cities across the country to reassure the Spanish public and tourists that they would be safe. The officers would position themselves outside of 'high risk' targets such as schools, public places, diplomatic missions, beaches and shopping centres. Officers would be wearing bulletproof vests, each carrying a loaded Heckler & Koch G36 and loaded Heckler & Koch USP which they had three magazines each for.
