SPANISH AIR FORCE - STATEMENT OF INTEREST The Spanish Air Force can confirm that in the early hours of the morning, it launched two of its aircraft out of Son San Juan Air Base in the Balearic Islands to the reports of five foreign military aircraft not responding to calls from military air traffic controllers based on the islands. The aircraft soon disappeared from radar and calls to the aircraft still remained unanswered. wreckage has been found by local fishermen and currently the Civil Guard are currently operating a search and rescue mission around the islands to look for any potential survivors and to investigate the potential cause of the crash. The Spanish Air Force and Spanish Navy have also deployed resources to the island to assist the local Civil Guard as they look for any signs of life. The Prime Minister has been briefed on the situation and the Spanish Air Force can confirm that no weaponry such as cannons and/or air-to-air missiles were used in the operation to identify the potential threat. |
