A telephone call is began between Storhet Auktioner Government Surplus Disposals and South African Ministry of Defence (or equivalent). The call is secure and encrypted - conducted by mobile phone.

The call would be routed to the minister by her secretary, "Hello, this is Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Department of Defense and Military Veterans, South Africa."

 

[Connor]

The call is immediately encrypted end-to-end and conversation continues

"It's a pleasure to speak to you, I call you from Storhet Auktioner in Sweden and potentially have a fantastic business opportunity to offer you today."

Nosiviwe rolls her eyes, a telemarketer. "Alright, let's hear it."

 

[Connor]

"I work within the Government Surplus Disposals team, apart of the worldwide Storhet Auktioner group. We're in possession of some fighter aircraft that we'd like to offer you at a 30% discount rate with no production time and no contractual ties - how does this sound to you?"

[Lavenderdame]

The minister nods her head and will retrieve a pen and stack of paper from her desk, "I'm intrigued. What are the makes and models of the aircraft?"

 

[Connor]

"Excellent! Well we currently hold the Dassault Mirage 2000-5EI, although an older asset this fighter jet has immense capability to boost your airspace defence force whilst you develop as a nation - as I said previously we can slice the price by 30% to ensure you get a dirt cheap deal, allowing you to replace these aircraft once you have more advance equipment at your disposal. Better than that, you have no waiting period, we can deliver the assets within 24 hours."

"Yes, and for these aircraft how many are you selling and are there any trainer variants available?"

 

[Connor]

"We currently have 30 at our disposal but we do work for you, as the client, and should you agree to purchase the 30 we have in stock - I'll do my best to work with our friends and partners to meet your demand and further needs for trainer aircraft"

[Lavenderdame]

The red light on Nosiviwe's phone flashes, "Excuse me, I have a call on another line." She places the Storhet representative on hold while she answers the call. After a few minutes she picks it up again, "Sorry about that. I'm afraid we can't commit to a purchase at this time, thank you."

 

[Connor]

"Can I ask the reason for this?"

 

[Lavenderdame]

"Among other things, budgeting, et cetera our chief concern is the immediate lack of trainer aircraft."

 

[Connor]

"How about if I were to offer you 13 aircraft, free-of-charge for a period of your choosing in order to train your airmen and women in the use and operation of the Dassault Mirage 2000-5EI and we begin working on a payment-plan for the progressive payment of the assets? This way your budgeting issues are eliminated with a bespoke plan and any training issues are alleviated with the free provision of aircraft?"

 

[Lavenderdame]

"Again, without a dedicated trainer variant I'm afraid the planes are useless to us."

 

[Connor]

"How many trainer aircraft are you looking for? If I were to manage to find trainer aircraft, would we have a deal?"

 

[Lavenderdame]

"We would need at least 12 trainers and for Gen-2 aircraft I do not think it would be a reasonable investment for us."

 

[Connor]

"The Dassault Mirage 2000-5EI is a fourth-generation fighter aircraft and of peak condition with only one previous operator - no known active deployments. I can look for the best price for 12 trainers and with a payment plan in place we're looking at minimal instalments whilst you develop a sufficient self defence force. These aircraft potentially act as a brick wall, giving you chance to develop."
