A telephone call is put through to the Unites States Secretary of Commerce by Albina Söderström, Divisional Practice Head (Corporate) from Strömberg International Legal Consultants AB - the call is made from the SILC headquarters in Sweden.

"Okay, well to start off you will need to let me know what type of business you wish to open in the United States. Would it be: a Sole Proprietorship, a Limited Liability Company or a General Partnership"

"We intend to register as a Limited Liability Company, as we already are in both Sweden and the Netherlands"

"Okay, first off you will need to register your company name via the website: www.uspto.gov - and then we will process the license you will be needing. This license will be called the "License Tax", an annual license that needs renewing every 26 tax periods."

"and what's the fee?"

"That will be calculated based on office size, number of employees etcetera"

"I see well the office we intend to purchase is 1954 square foot and initially we intend for this to house at least fifty personnel, pending our success in the states which could see this figure grow"
