Requirement under Article 7 Vienna Convention
In accordance with the Vienna Convention, the Kingdom of Sweden places no inordinate restriction on the appointment of diplomatic or security staff for foreign service - this publication is to meet requirement set upon the Department for Foreign Affairs (Art. 7.3 VC) detailed as defined (Art. 1 VC). The following information is subject to scrutiny by the Department for Foreign Affairs at any time and may be changed without notice, sending state's are advised to check back regularly for updated information. Reasonable limitations and restrictions defined by domestic law are as follows:

- "head of the mission" (1 only)
- "members of diplomatic staff" (11 only)
- "members of the administrative and technical staff" (100 maximum in lieu of service agreement)
- "members of the security staff" (neither more nor less than 25 in lieu of service agreement)
- "members of the service staff" (bespoke service agreement required)
- "private servant" (bespoke service agreement requied)

Carriage of Personal Protective Equipment
Members of the security staff of the mission are permitted to be in possession of personal protective equipment reasonable for the lawful execution of their duty. This is limited at a basic level to an incapacitant spray (issued by or approved by the Swedish National Police), telescopic baton and metal handcuffs (chain, hinged or rigid solid bar). Supplementary protective or miscellenious equipment is at the discretion of the sending state within the confines of domestic law. Possession of a firearm, offensive weapon or dangerous object in Sweden is strictly prohibited without exception to the prohibition or the issuance of a weapons licence.

Diplomatic Motor Vehicles
Motor vehicles that are registered in the name of a mission or international organisation, or in the name of a diplomatic agent, administrative and technical staff or security staff who is not Swedish citizen or permanent resident of Sweden, shall carry blue diplomatic licence plates. In order to obtain diplomatic licence plates, the motor vehicle must have received the regular licence plates, and thus also be insured. It is possible to obtain diplomatic licence plates for a leased car if the duration of the leasing agreement is at least one year. A copy of the contract must be attached to the application for diplomatic licence plates. All diplomatic licence plates must be authorised by the Office of Global Cooperation.​
